Remember Elin Blom who fronted Sister Twister that represented Finland in the MGP Nordic , and then tried to get to represent Finland in the real thing before moving to Sweden and making herself known in the Swedish Idols ? Well, she has moved apparently to Los Angeles now and emerges with her debut American single and video Kung Fu ... Little girls grow up!

The 9th Junior Eurovision song contest will take place in Yerevan, Armenia on December 3, 2011. All the entries have now been selected and you can listen to them by clicking the song's title. Last year Armenia's Vladimir Arzumamyan won with Mama but it's a pure coincidence the contest is in Yerevan. The 2012 contest has already been given to the Netherlands to host. The Russian artist Katya Ryabova makes history by being the first Junior artist to make a comeback. She already came 2nd in 2009 with Malenkiy prints . 1. Finland is not taking part in the Junior Eurovision song contest but the original, MGP Nordic. The artists are 8-15 years old and write their own songs. Some of them have started their career here including Elin Blom who went ton to Euroviisut and Swedish idols. There was a televoting and a jury and the winner is... Oh well, watch yourself   here . And Paradise Oskar both did the jury job and performed on interval.And for once I totally agree with the results!

The other Finn Elin Blom is out from the Swedish Idol 2010. "It's very sad to leave but this is not the last you've heard of me. I'll be back, you'll see! This was the best I have ever done! " In Finnish media she was critizising the Finnish Idol when asked why she did the Swedish one saying the Swedish is so much better. Well, true... I guess. Anyways the Finnish one has given us Hanna Pakarinen , Antti Tuisku , Jani Wickholm , Katri Ylander , Agnes , Kristiina Brask , Anna Abreu , Kristian Meurman , Koop Arponen and Pete Parkkonen . After a break the 5th season will start next year in Finland while in Sweden there is the top-5 left...

Both Finns in the running made it to the final 11 in the Swedish Idol 2010. Eurovision 2005 veteran Geir Rönning (47) made it against some critics due to his age and experience but so did also Elin Blom (16). She also has both MGP Nordic and Euroviisut 2009 experience. Now let's see how far they go in this Idols season that has been described "the strongest and the best" season so far by some critics.

Sweden's Ulrik won with maximum votes (3x times 12) the MGP Nordic 2009 in Stockholm. Denmark's Pelle B came second with 28 and Norway's Jörgen and Finland Amanda's shared the third place with 20 (so Finland finally wasn't left 4th!). This is Sweden's first win. In the first round all 8 songs were performed and televote picked one song from each country to the superfinal and new voting. The scores were given as 6, 8 and 12 points. The contest is back next year and the news concerning Finland is that songs can be sent in now also in Finnish (FSTV5, the Finnish Swedish speaking channels is in charge of this contest) and in Saami.

The original Junior Eurovision song contest, MGP Nordic is on tonight. Two songs from each Norway, Denmark, Sweden and Finland are taking part. Norway and Denmark have both won twice while Sweden has scored 3 second places, will they finally win in homeground? Or will Finland surprise us all? Worth mentioning Sister Twister and Linn who represanted Finland in 2007 are both taking part in Euroviisut 2010. You can follow the contest live for  example here and it starts at 8pm CET. This is the real thing: kids doing kiddy things in a programme made for kids!

Linn Nygård (17) will take part in Euroviisut 2010 with Sebastian Holmgård with Fatal moment after qualifying from the open web selection. Linn came second in the Finnish MGP 2007 but eventually did better in the Nordic final with En liten önskan than the winners Sister Twister placing 4th. She's studying in the Pietarsaari music institute and also does theater and dance. She has released one single so far, Over you .

Amanda and The Black White Boys will fly the Finnish flag in Stockholm in MGP 2009 on November 28, 2009. In all a enjoyable show with some good songs, some not so great and a lot of shaky vocals. Amanda's winning entry Jag vill leva is a typical up tempo schlager that didn't impress me much but The Black White Boys's Kommer du ihåg mig is very good catchy pop rock. I also liked Lucas's Saknad (even if I kept thinking of The River by Bruce Springsteen all through it) and hey Presto's Sluta älska dig . Miranda came third, Paula fourth and Fe-Male fifth. Finland is not taking part in the Junior Eurovision song contest, but the pan-Nordic MGP Nordic. The 2009 edition will be the 5th one but only Finland's third participation. The final songs are picked out from 111 songs sent in. Denmark won the two first editions in 2002 and 2006 (in between the JESC was born of this idea but Nordic countries soon pulled out and restarted their own one). Norway has won the next two editions in 2007 and 2008 . The Finnish participants in 2007 - winner Sister Twister and runner up Linn Nygård - are both running to enter Europviisut 2010 in the internet selection. Like in the first ESC each country sends in two songs. Here you can listen to this year's participants in the Finnish MGP 2009. The final is tomorrow Friday October 9 live on FST5. The international final will be on November 28, 2009.

The live show from Denmark has just started and the first entry is on stage. I may be partial but the quality of songs is much better here than in last week's Junior Eurovision song contest... 01. The Johanssons opened the contest for Denmark with a very catchy song En for alle, alle for en, that mixes a bit rap and technopop. 02. The Battery with Tenke nå! from Norway is on stage next. Also this song is good radio pop with piano lead and good vocalist. 03. Linn and En sång från hjärtat is the first Swedish entrant and oldest one this year. Very shaky vocals in the beginning but getting a bit better when the self penned piano ballad gets going.... 04. Footboys and Fotboll are the youngest this year, both are only 10 years old. Finland it is! The song's as hysterical as last week's Junior Eurovision winner and the guys are almost as adorable as the Georgian bees... Let's see what happens. 05. This Saturday we have the MGP Nordic 2008 final, with kids from four Nordic countries taking part and having fun. The Finnish final was a few weeks ago and was won by Footboys, who are also the youngest in this year's competition with their age of ten years. Oldest is Swedish Linn, 15. 01. If Sanremo is the mother of the Eurovision song contest, MGP Nordic is the mother of the Junior Eurovision song contest. It all started in Denmark back in 2000 when the Danish TV organized a song contest for children. 2001 the event was repeated and in 2002 Norway and Sweden joined in. EBU picked up the idea in 2003 and organized the very first Junior Eurovision song contest with 16 countries taking part. However by 2006 many western European countries had jumped off including Denmark and Norway (and in 2008 Sweden also is no longer taking part). Denmark, Norway and Sweden have organized again MGP since 2006, and in 2007 also Finland joined in, represanted by its Swedish speaking TV. This year's MGP Nordic takes place in Aarhus in Denmark this coming Saturday night.
