EUROVISION WISH LIST: ZHANAR DUGALOVA/ Жанар Дұғалова

Kazakhstan seems to be eager to join the Eurovision family while fans are a bit divided. This blogger would welcome them with open arms if they keep their promise and bring some national flavor with their songs. Zhanar is one of the leading ladies in business and has expressed her will to do the honors, after all she already won the substitute Turkvision song contest 2014 with Izim körem .  Her career started in a succesful girlband KeshYou while releasing also solo stuff and since 2014 she's been delivering solo hits like Ala ketpedin , Ayta bersin  and  Sen meni tüsinbedin .

EUROVISION SONG CONTEST: ASSOCIATES OF EBU ELIGIBLE TO TAKE PART FROM NOW ON?

Australia has been in already two years and most propably will be present also in Kyiv despite launching their our Asiavision next year. The decision to invite them - or rather let them in - is highly critizised by Eurovision purists but this blogger thinks it's just fine. But I would still rather prefer a different solution..... Now that EBU has changed the rules also on paper by  "Associates of the EBU, outside of the European Broadcasting Area, may also be eligible to enter the Eurovision Song Contest. Such decisions are taken by the Reference Group, the governing body of the Eurovision Song Contest, on a case by case basis." I would propose a rotation. Every year a country outside Europe that wants to take part would be invited as a special guest, just like Australia the first time. Or maybe even several depending on the number of the regular countries participating, after all the maximum is set to 46 countries by EBU. If several regulars decided to step ...

SHOULD KAZAKHSTAN JOIN EUROVISION?

Ever since I visited the Kazakhstan's paviglion in the Milan World EXPO 2015 this summer I have been a bit taken by this huge country, bigger than Western Europe,  in Central Asia bordering Europe and so willing to take part in the Eurovision song contest. They have been broadcasting the show since 2010 while waiting for the EBU membership since 2008. They apparently even sent a delegation to sneak around a bit in Vienna 2015. It seems that even the president Nazarbayev is eager to get Kazakhstan into the Eurovision family and that's fine so long he keeps his presidential election methods out of the Eurovision voting*.... And judging the video medley below the country has a very flourishing pop music industry, and also music video industry. They would surely come and show how it's done to a few other countries. But then, like Azerbaijan, they do have the money to do it. Also there is the danger they would ignore their own music industry and play it safe and shop aroun...

KAZAKHSTAN TO JOIN EBU

Kazakhstan has finally all in order to join EBU, it seems. Requirements of the European Broadcasting Union are very high. The potential member of the EBU should be the active user of services of the union, buy regularly the rights to broadcast big events and have own technical base at high level. There is also a payment of regular membership dues. And only continuous membership in the EBU provides participation in the Eurovision song contest as well. However, with several countries dropping out from the 2013 edition EBU might be eager to bring in someone new and Kazakhstan could be the one as Liechtenstein doesn't seem so ready yet. In that case we could get something like Rin'Go and  Сагыныш   in Eurovision. :-)
