EUROVISION 2019: SECOND REHEARSAL FOR BELGIUM, GEORGIA AND AUSTRALIA

Belgium - Eliot - Wake up *** That jacket, those hand moves, those drums... why? Yet somehow it works. Eliot seems vocally ok but he looks a bit scared and not connected with the song as it feels like all his energy and concentration is focused on that simple choreography. On the other hand we are far from Blanchesque disaster in rehearsals and in the end she delivered in the final. I hope Eliot makes it there and delivers, too.   Georgia - Oto Nemsadze - Keep on going * This one is apparently gaining momentum but I find it all a bit aggressive and scary, like some apocalyptical musical's show stopper number. Georgia is also in the middle of a minor case of scandal as the song has political undertones of Great Georgia and Oto's call for Georgians all over Europe to vote for the homecountry have made headlines. And I believe they do and push this to the final that it doesn't deserve.  Australia - Kate Miller-Heidke - Zero gravity ***** This year'...

EUROVISION 2019: DAY 2 REHEARSALS IN PHOTOS

We have seen it all at Eurovision over the decades. Or so we think until someone brings something unseen before to the stage. This year it is Australia. We've had people on sticks and monocycles, but never before the artist herself on a swinging pole. Thumbs up to Kate!  Little drummer boy brings us back to 2004-05 era. Heaven & hell told by a monk. Flying above it all.   From angel to beast in 30 seconds. Storm. Never a dull moment in this 2nd half, is there? Opens up like a flower. Pretty in pink, vol.2

EUROVISION 2019 DARE TO REVIEW 1: CROATIA, MOLDOVA, GERMANY, GEORGIA

Time to kick off the Eurovision 2019 reviews based on my own taste and thoughts. The main criteria is Would I like to listen to this outside the Bubble? Will I ever listen to this post-May? Does it make me feel anything? Things will certainly change once the rehearsals starts what comes to the ideas how well or bad they will do, but more of that later. Let's start with my current bottom-4: Croatia - Roko - My dream ** "I dream of love You dream of love Angels of God We all dream of love" Roko Blažević (19) sings reasonable well but it's all so old fahioned and kitch it's almost painful. And therefor almost good. If sung entirely in Croatian this song would have a reason to exist. On the other hand a similiar kitch took his Talent of Croatia coach Jacques Houdek to the final top-8 in 2017, so this could be a shock qualifier, but I doubt it... yet I'd just giggle it away not bing surprised at all! I just hope they drop those wings, that's so la...

GEORGIA: IDOL FINAL TONIGHT - WHO'S GOING TO EUROVISION?

Georgia is using Idols to pick up their artist for Eurovision song contest 2019 in Tel Aviv. Tonight's the final with four acts left in the race. We will hear them singing their entries (titles below) and all the songs will be in Georgian! Big Hooray for that! The artists in the final have a LOT experience in various talents shows, even winning them but are back here, strange as it seems. Second chances anyone? Or is it Eurovision that makes them try again? Update: It seems the final is tomorrow, Sunday March 3 after all :-) The finalists are: Giorgi Nakashidze He has already won Georgian X Factor 2015 and sings everything from opera to rock Giorgi Pruidze Also this Giorgi was in X Factor 2015 and made it to the live shows. Lisa Kalandadze She's already been in Idols and also X Factor and seems to be a bit of a favorite to get the Eurovision ticket. Oto Nemsadze He won already the Georgian Idol 2011, and placed third in the Ukrainian The Voic...

GEORGIA: HERE ARE THE APPLICANTS FOR EUROVISION

In some countries hundreds, in some thousends apply for the Eurovision song contest. In Georgia we have 27 applicants*. Surely makes the life of the selecting jury easier. How the winner is chosen is not made known but rumor is there will be a national final of some form and some number of entries. Though last time they did one the artists performed on video instead of belting their entries out live on stage.... We live intriguing times while waiting what they have come up this time around....  Anyways, among the applicants from the previous selections like Misha Sulukhia and Eter Beriashvili at it again and a lot of talent show royalty: winner of the Voice 2013 Mariam Chachkhiani , Georgian Idol winner 2009 Oto Nemsadze who has done also the Voice of Ukraine, some names from X Factor ( Andria Glevesiani, Giorgi Chikovani, Sparkle ) and even to New Wave winners: Rati Durglisvhili (2008) and Nutsa Buzaladze (2014). Out of this lot they should get out something good, right?...
