Life after Helsinki 2007 Eurovision

The Italian version of 2-CD project We love Disney features also two Italian Eurovision veterans singing Disney movie classics. Nina Zilli does Una stella cade from Pinocchio, and Emma duets with Antonino in Il mondo è mio from Aladdin. The other Italian artists are Clementino, Carmen Consoli, Carola, Giuliano Palma, Karima, Moreno, Francesco Sarcina, Il Cile, Andrea Nardinocchi and Kutso, so all in all rather young and hip crowd.  The other CD features interntional stars like Gwen Stefani, Jason Derulo, Ariana Grande, Fall Out Boy and Jessie J.  This series started back in 2013 when France did the first one, followed by another one the year after when also Australia did one. This year also Indonesia got one, and now this US one that gets the Italian CD in the same package for the Italian market. .

Emma Marrone has released a new (old) track as a single, Resta ancora un po´ , ahead of the release of her first live album E Live to be released on November 11, 2014. The live album was recorded during her concert in Arena di Verona this summer and includes all her hits over the years, and of course also La mia cittá . It comes as a CD (15 tracks + studio version of Resta ancora un po ') and a DVD (20 tracks including the two duests with David Bisbal, Hombre de tu vida and Amame ) Resta ancora un po' is actually a Antonino  Spadacchino cover Emma has been performing for a few years now.

It's not looking very promising for the Eurovision 2012 in Italy. RAI is hoping to increase the interest and get the viewing figures up after last year's failure but the competing channel Canale5 will have its very popular reality show Amici's final on the same night at the same time. A huge show is planned live from the  Arena di Verona (built in 30 AD). Not only the talent show's finalists will be on stage to battle it out but also the previous winners or other success stories of Amici, including three of the latest four Sanremo winners Emma , Valerio Scanu and Marco Carta . Also Karima , Virginio Simonelli , Annalisa Scarrone , Antonella Amoroso , Antonino Spadaccino and Pierdavide Carone will be there. Needless to say the Italian youngsters- and not only - will tune into Canale5 instead of Raidue on May 26 night. Shame.

The winner of the Cerbul de Aur or Golden Stag 2009 in Romania, Italian Antonino Spadaccino (26) declares in a recent interview he wants to do Eurovision, but as Italy is not participating hopes that some other country would be interested. "I want to do Eurovision but need to find a country that would adopt me. I got to Cerbul only thanks to my manager who sent in a demo. In Italy I don't do any festivals or contest anymore. I have tried to enter Sanremo twice but they have just laughed at me, even making fun of me sending me away by saying "Salutaci gli Amici tuoi! (translates to Greetings to your Friends" Antonino won the talent reality contest Amici four years ago. "Maybe Malta or Switzerland would be interested in me" he goes on.   "I was sure I would go home empty handed from Romania thinking the local artist would win again but when I heard "And the winner is Antonino" I didn't realize anything anymore. I cried like a baby - ...
