EUROVISION 2018: THE CURSE OF 43 HITS AGAIN?

Only twice Eurovision song contest has managed to reach the record number of participants, 43, in 2008 and 2011. It seems every time since when 43 has been announced something has happened and it has dropped to 42. Be it Bosnia-Herzegovina wihdrawing or Romania being kicked out. This time it is Macedonia. It's pretty safe to assume Macedonia was in RTP's list of 43* they confirmed last week before EBU made public it has cut off MRT of its services including news, sports etc and of course Eurovision song contest due to a debt of 0,5-22 million euros depending on your source. This recalls the Romanian affair of 2016, only that it happens well ahead of the contest unlike then when Ovidiu Anton was already packing his bags to go to Vienna wheh he and Romania was stopped. This time Macedonia's participation in Junior Eurovision song contest 2017 goes on as planned but Eurovision 2018 itself is a no go, unless the debt is paid or solution found.  *It would be real su

AUTUMN SOUNDS FROM CAMILA CABELLO, RUI ANDRADE, ISAC ELLIOT AND ARISA

Camila Cabello is ex-Fifth Harmony Cuban-American singer and her Havana is very groovy and catchy indeed. This blogger's off to Havana and Cuba in the middle of Eurovision 2018 season early next year so how could I not love this song?  Rui Andrade , veteran in the Eurovision circuit already and who knows the one for Lisbon 2018, has released a video for his latest Comfia em mim . The song and especially the video is clearly aimed at Eurovision circuit and fan boys. Swedish song indeed, but sung in Portuguese it has a nice flavor. I must admit I dismissed this with the first hearing, but given another shot it's actually rather good! (Much better than Know me better , IMHO) Finnish teenage sensation Isac Elliot from this blogger's hometown Espoo keeps delivering and his latest Eyes shut continues his string of perfect pop hits. He has recently launched also a highly succcesful career in Finnish with Mikael Gabriel. Italian fan favorite Arisa has releas

YES SIR, THEY CAN BOOGIE! EINI AND BACCARA FINALLY LIVE & TOGETHER

UMK fan favorite Eini is celebrating her 40th anniversary in the business (Yes, you read right: 4-0) and for the occasion she will finally reunite with Eurovision veterans Baccara. Two special concerts are arranged in Helsinki and Hyvinkää on November 22 and 23. But why, I hear you ask? Eini's first hit was a Finnish cover of Baccara's yes sir, I can boogie and both versions are rea evergreens in Finland. Baccara was even the very first foreign act to sell platinum in Finland, or over 100.000 copies of their  self titled 1978 album. Their success continued with the next album that sold gold.  Baccara, as we know it from Eurovision aka Mayte Meteos and Maria Mendiola went separate ways in 1982 but both continues to perform under Baccara with different partners. Mayte's baccara has been more succesful and led them even to melodifestivalen in 2004. Today the "original" Baccara is Mayte with Paloma Blanco. And Eini? She's still going strong and maybe more

FINLAND: MAMMA MIA! LAURA VOUTILAINEN BECOMES DONNA

The ever so popular Mamma mia! musical by ABBA is having its Finnish version coming up next May in Helsinki. Laura Voutilainen has landed the role as Donna (played by Meryl Streep in the movie) and she describes it as her dream role and as written for her. She's done musicals before but says this is her first experience in such an acting role. She auditioned for the role by the request by the producers and there was no doubt she'll be perfect.  But the Eurovision connections don't end here: Nina Tapio and Tomi Metsäketo are also in the cast. Nina Tapio has been several times in Eurovision as a backing singer, as well as in the national final and even performed in the opening numbers in Helsinki 2007 Eurovision. Tomi Metsäketo nearly beat Lordi in Euroviisut 2006 but let's see how it goes for him now. He's in the middle of #metoo scandal now and was kicked out last week from a tv production he was supposed to be in several future episodes still in coming we
