ESC 2018: SPAIN GOES BACK TO OPERACIÓN TRIUNFO?

News from Spain concerning their participation in 2018. The good old Operación Trumfo, that brought the country to top-10 three times in a row 2002-2004 and so far the last time anywhere near it with the exception of Ruth Lorenzo's 2014 and Pastora Soler's 2012 - both barely 10th - could be making a comeback as country's national selection next year. It seems TVE is prepairing another 20omething finish next week... BUT OT has given us a lot of Spanish flavour and good placings, hopefully this could change the Spanish Eurovision faith again! In light of that ti makes sense, even if TVE has prompty denied it is so.... In 2002 Operación Triunfo was launched and caused a real hysteria in the Iberian peninsula launching the careers of Rosa Lopez, David Bisbal, David Bustamante, Chenoa, Gisela and some others. Rosa took all the runners up with her to Eurovision and Europe's living a celebration finished 7th while the whole of Spain lived with them the somewhat disappo...

SORAYA SINGS TO... FETUSES. VIA BABYPOD. IN YOUR HOO-HA.

Spanish Eurovision contestant, Soraya Arnelas put on a pretty unique concert for a group of ten women this Christmas. All of whom were pregnant, and all were wearing a special device inside their vaginas. Yes, you heard that right, these expecting mamas were all wearing a little Babypod gynaecological device in their special places! You just have to insert one up your hoo-ha first. The singer at the concert added, "I've never been performing for such a young audience so for me, it's a very special show!" This blogger is kinda lost for words. Read more here .

Little bravehearts Kate Ryan and Charlotte Perrelli

Two Eurovision fan favourites and failures in the result table have joined forces for this rather infectious little dance number, Little braveheart . Has Kate dumped another failure Soraya has her home girl? (*"failure" is used here with all love and admiration. They all should have done better!)

Spanish fans prefer girl power

The Spanish fans launched a poll to see who they would prefer to represant their country in the 2011 Eurovision song contest and Chenoa is narrowly their favourite, almost head to head with Mirela, 2.243 votes against 2.232. Soraya despite her flop in Eurovision came third with 1.995 votes. The top trio is followed by Natalia Jiménez (1.974), ex-vocalist of La 5. Estacion, Marta Sánchez (1.923), Malú (1.917), La Oreja de Van Gogh (1.888), Mónica Naranjo (1.865), Edurne (1.847) and another ex-Eurovision star Rosa (1.836). Other familiar names include Enrique Iglesias (12th), Coral (14th), Hevia (15th), Anabel Conde (17th), Venus (19th), Maria Isabel (20th), David Bisbal (28th), Ana Torroja (33rd), Ainhoa (34th) and Amaia Montero (44th). The Spanish TV has launched an open call for both singers and songs this time around. Let's wait and see if any of these artists will apply.... Mirela has said she'll be there and will finally release her debut album in spring 2011 while ...

Soraya aims to be the European disco queen

Soraya has released a new album Dreamer and aims to hit the dance floors all over Europe and challenge the other disco queens. Dreamer has 11 tracks including the fantastic Live your dreams that's been already doing well this summer in charts and collaborations with Wally Lopéz, Antoine Clamaran, Bedük, Roger Sanchez and Juan Magan. The title track is the new single.  "Working with Kate Ryan and Antoine Clamaran have opened me doors in Europe, and a real dance record has been a dream of mine for a long time" she says in Shangay magazine's interview. "Unfortunately the planned duet with Donna Summer didn't happen for economical reasons and for the fact she's busy doing her own new record and promoting it. " And she's not at all sour about her Eurovision experience and is not challanging Kate Ryan: "No, I have turned the page. Despite the result it opened me many doors and gave me contacts. Infact on October 17 I will be back to Moscow...

Waldo's People getting mixed in Timbaland and charting in Canada

Waldo's People is charting in Canada's DJFM Radio's Top-20 at #6 this week with their I wanna be a rockstar going up. At the same list we have also Antoine Clamaran ft Soraya with Live your dreams at #7 going down and Dan Balan's Chica bomb going up at #13 so the chart seems very Euro friendly. But that's not all, Waldo's next single Jackpot is currently being mixed in Los Angeles in Timbaland by Koen. I wanna be a rockstar is also nominated in Oulu Musiikkivideofestarit for the best video. Things are looking fine for Waldo's People!

Soraya lives her dreams with Antoine

Spanish has been celebrationg their world championships now for some 24 hours and they truly have lived their dreams now. So has Soraya, providing vocals to Antoine Clamaran's quite wonderful dance tune Live your dreams , a track that would not have been out of place in any of the latest Kylie albums really. Great stuff for summer!

Kate Ryan's French Connection

Here it is finally, Kate Ryan's biggest hits/covers in French all together on one CD. Soraya reveals Victoria's Secret

Soraya has been touring both Americas recently and it sounds like especially Mexicans went wild for her. She has also found some time to pose in Victoria's Secret lingerie in New York and Brooklyn bridge... Way to go, chica!

Soraya goes west

Soraya hasn't been let down with her second to last place in Eurovision 2009 with La noce es para mi but has been touring Spain all summer and released a single with fellow undeserved Eurovision flopper Kate Ryan, Tonight we ride and Caminaré . And here's her solo version of it. Now she is off to the Americas: United States, Venezuela, Mexico, Brazil and Argentina will see her performing live in this month promoting her latest albumm Sin miedo. Well done, Soraya e buena suerte!!

In Moscow 2009: Never underestimate the last one

Spain was the last to rehearse yesterday and most people reportedly left to various parties. The same is due to happen tonight when the party of the year is taking place: the Opening Party! No one learned a lesson back in 1989 when none of the journalists bothered to follow the Yogoslavian rehearsals and see what happened? Blame yourself if you were surprised! Anyways, I'm gonna do just that and step back from the PC for awhile and leave you with this video of Soraya in Arena before and after her yesterday's rehearsals and singing with Jade for example. It looked messy seen it from a far but here from these camera angles it looks mighty good. Maybe it will be Soraya's night after all? http:// www.youtube.com/watch?v=iOyrInz8ptU

In Moscow 2009: La noche es para.... Who?

No. As much as I would have liked to go to Spain in 2010 I don't think that is not where the circus will move next. Propably this will look great on TV but to see it on stage like this video below it comes across very very messy and confusing topped with not so good vocals/mixing. The song isn't bad, Soraya is very likable and Spain has it all right but it just may not be enough after all... http:// www.youtube.com/watch?v=DhLx5hGrQms

SORAYA FOR SPAIN

Soraya won in the end (televote rules over jury). I still think the song is very artificially constructed but she sings it well and the staging isn't bad at all. Let's see how it will do in Moscow 2009... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P0WPKuauWpY , http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d4kxdH6yT-8 01. Soraya (jury/televote) 10 + 12 = 22 02. Melody 12 + 10 = 22 03. Santa Fe 8 + 8 = 16 04. Mirela 6 + 7 = 13 05. Virginia 5 + 6 = 11 06. Isi 7 + 4 = 11 07. La La Love You 4 + 5 = 9 08. Julia Bermejo 2 + 2 = 4 09. Jorge Gonzalez 3 + 1 = 4 10. Salva Ortega 0 + 3 = 3 11. Noelia Cano 1 + 0 = 1 12. Baobab 0 + 0 = 0
