Life after Helsinki 2007 Eurovision

As every year the lists of nominees are filled with Eurovision stars only proving that Russia indeed does send their biggest guns to Eurovision. Serebro was once again nominated for the best group, Dima Bilan for the best song ( Не молчи ), as was Svetlana Loboda ( К чёрту любовь ), Polina Gagarina for the best video ( Я не буду ), with Alexey Vorobyov ( Сумасшедшая ), Sergey Lazarev ( Это все она ) and Dan Balan ( Плачь ). Dima Bilan and Sergey Lazarev once again battled against each other in the best male singer category and Sergey won the second year in a row. Eye on Egor Kreed who could be the next one with Eurovision glory.... Ani Lorak - these days a persona non grata at home in Ukraine - was nominated for the best female artist again with Polina Gagarina, but  Ёлка won this time around. Nyusha , also a very possible future Eurovision name was nomintaed for the best dance video, as was Egor Kreed . Emin was nominated for the best acting role in a movie....

Last year Moldovan national final ended in a scandal when Ukrainian Eduard Romanuyta won and the local artists walked out in protest. They still haven't forgiven TRM it seems, even if they changed the rules and only Moldovan citizens can take part. The submission window closes on Monday and so far there are only 7 (seven!) submissions . So much for the two semifinals and final as planned unless they all will wait till Monday to submit their entries in masses.  Otherwise they may have to just pick up the phone and call someone like Dan Balan and ask him to come up with something uptempo and fun.....Or even the one below, it's new enough.  UPDATE : Eventually they received nearly 50 entries in the last minute rush. Romania will take place in the Baku 2012 Eurovision after all and the national selection is planned for March 10, 2012. And guess what, TVR has published a list of those names that they would like to see taking part. So far we know Mihai Traistariu seems rather desperate to get to the Eurovision spotlight again. Other names include everything from Alexandra Stan to Edward Maya , Akcent  and Dan Balan . I guess we can't expect entries from them... Several names besides Traistariu would be welcomed back by TVR like Elena Gheorge, Hotel FM, Luminita Anghel, Marcel Pavel, Natalia Barbu, Nico and Ovi along with an endless list of previous national finalists like Blaxy Girls, Catalin Josan and Costi Ionita. Let's see who swallows the hook and tries again! Arsenie may have gone from O-Zone to Eurovision but Dan has went all the way from Moldova to New York trying to launch his career that so far is made of annual re-release of Chica bomb , an irritating song that surely won't get unnoticed when played on any dancefloor.... like a perfect summer song.

Waldo's People is charting in Canada's DJFM Radio's Top-20 at #6 this week with their I wanna be a rockstar going up. At the same list we have also Antoine Clamaran ft Soraya with Live your dreams at #7 going down and Dan Balan's Chica bomb going up at #13 so the chart seems very Euro friendly. But that's not all, Waldo's next single Jackpot is currently being mixed in Los Angeles in Timbaland by Koen. I wanna be a rockstar is also nominated in Oulu Musiikkivideofestarit for the best video. Things are looking fine for Waldo's People!
