EUROVISION 2023: THE PERFORMANCES OF SPAIN, UKRAINE AND UNITED KINGDOM

Last night in the second semi-final we saw finally the tv-screen performances of the remaining Big5 and Ukraine. Or rather a little preview as they were recorded in Wednesday night's dress rehearsal. Spain. I still continue to believe this could be shock flop for the fandom. I find it so hard to think television viewers in Eastern and Northern Europe or anywhere outside Iberian peninsula would like this enough to take the phone or app and show some love instead of something else. Quien maneja mi barca flopped totally. She's great and it all looks stunning but it seems most people like the performance but don't want to listen to this song alone. Including myself. I love the fact Spain went for a song like this, but this might be just a bit too much to bite. Next year go rather Bandido than Quien maneja mi barca, ok? Ukraine, when first seen in national final I didn't care so much but noticed the fantastic staging and those video screen effects etc. Now with remix and ext...

EUROVISION 2023: SEMI-FINAL TWO PREDICTION TIME ...

Here we are again. I took a risk combining my prediction and want list and it didn't pay off in the first semi-final as I scored 8/10. The semi-finals are quite different this year one featuring all the bangers and crazy stuff along with polls/odds favorites while the second one is a bit boring string of rather underwhelming songs. But I want to take some risks here, too, and see how it ends. Let's go: Denmark is a big question mark. Not my cup of tea but could it make it? For now I say OUT Armenia is interesting and quite original and I like it. Not sure about the dance break she seems to have just like Israel....  Anyways Armenia is IN Romania is OUT Estonia is a bit like Denmark, a real question mark. But I think I want to say OUT Belgium sticks out after those songs and should be IN Cyprus  is also IN helped by the Greek and Australian vote Iceland is a bit Pippi Longstocking gone wild and most likely OUT Greece is yet another question mark. Cypriot vote won't be enou...

EUROVISION 2023: PORTUGAL - FESTIVAL DA CANCAO SF 2 REVIEW

Here we go with the second semi-final of Festival da cancao 2023. You can read my thought about the first semi-final here. Edmundo Inácio - A festa **** He's one of the open call qualifiers and I certainly want to join his party. Lovely arrangement and rhythm, very nice voice. Latin inspired but not in the usual banal way. I hope the live staging and performance will be good! The Happy Mess - O impossivel *** Again very nice but quite forgettable. Not much to say, enjoyable while it's playing. Teresinha Landeiro - Enquanto è tempo *** Very classic old school, beautiful. Timeless.  Bandua - Bandeiras *** Intriguing and interesting. Probably would suffer Telemóveis fate in Eurovision. But I like this a lot more, that was way too weird.  Bárbara Tinoco - Goodnight ** Why in English, why? Loses a lot becoming a song from any random national final anywhere. A song that doesn't bother the top of the scoreboard. Anywhere. Inés Apenas - Fim do mundo ** Another open call qualifier....
