Life after Helsinki 2007 Eurovision

Israel has sorted out whatever problems they had in the first rehearsal. Cameras are now good, the hoopers are good, Hovi is good. All's fine. Israel is safely sailing to the final and doing well there if there's any justice left in this world. This has really grown into one of my top favorites. Emotional. Beautiful. Powerful. The ballad of the year. No doubt. 

It seems Israel is doing what I was calling this morning: someone singing in the spotlight without gimmicks letting the song speak to itself. Almost. There are hoop acrobats behind him, and a rain of fire in the end of the song, chrystals. Otherwise Hovi is what we have come to expect already: dressed in self designed black outfit and with make up. All looking expensive and elegant. Flawless vocals and stage presence. Very positive comments for him, only concern the hoop dancers who didn't get it spot on everytime. We'll see.  In the Meet & Greet Hovi, the perfectionist, was surprised how happy he was with the rehearsal. Not perfect quite yet but almost there, and it will be when it matters. He tells he does have a weight on his shoulders after last year's success. Then he quotes Kaliopi: Winning Eurovision is not winning the first place. Or rather songs that create mashups inside your head when singing them to yourself when sitting in a train or so.... This couple is another one that gets mixed up in my head. Israel's entry this year, Hovi Star's Made of stars turns into the winning song of 2007 Eurovision in Helsinki, Marija Serifovic's Molitva ...... Made of stars Silver fragments falling We are made of stars Molitva, kao žar na mojim usnama je, Molitva, mesto reči samo ime tvoje.

Photo by Ronen Akerman Hovi Star is representing Israel in the Eurovision song contest 2016 in Stockholm fulfilling a life long dream. He become household name in Israel in 2009 after taking part in a reality TV show Star is born . He didn't win but he's been around ever since thanks to his unique persona and voice. He has continued to release songs, doing gigs and even has been dubbing a lot of Disney and is known for his interest in fashion. Doron Medalie who also wrote Israel's succesful Golden boy last year, is behind his song and tells: "This emotional ballad was written about our lives as human race, about the here and now. We are all connected in the virtual world while in real life we are disengaging from one another. The differences between human beings are getting stronger and the reality forces us to choose - shall we reconnect and help one another in real lifeor should we keep distancing ourselves and stay indifferent.
