Life after Helsinki 2007 Eurovision

Here we go: This season's first plagiation case: YLE published yesterday the #UMK16 entrants and soon enough on internet the comments started flying on Rafaela Truda's Rise up . It is said to be a copy of Ariana Grande feat. Iggy Azalea's Problem . Is it a problem? Listen and judge yourself below.... I can't even.... Rafaela comments: I do understand my song may sound a bit like Grande's song as both use saxophone. However the melody is completely different and my song is more Eurovision like. We (co-writers Olli-Matti Kalliosaari and Kalle Mäkipelto) tried to make it more Balcan sounding with saxophone. While doing the demo we did notice the similarities but we liked it so much we left it like it is. We are not stealing it, we tried different things. Last year Måns Zelmerlöw won Eurovision with a song that sounds like David Guettai! it's a question of inspiration, not stealing!"

Måns Zelmerlöw has released a follow up to his Eurovision song contest 2015 winner Heroes . And quite a different sound from the winning entry. The video is nicely shot in reverse fitting nicely the song's retro sound. All in all a nice effort. Now let's see if he can make it a hit after disappointing album sales.....

Mäns Zelmerlöw, the Eurovision song contest 2015 winner with Heroes will have a very busy schedules next months. Besides his on going tour in Sweden and previously booked joint dates with Tomas Ledin he's now been booked to perform in various European countries and cities in Finland, Denmark, Germany, France, Ireland, Switzerland and Netherlands. Besides that he is doing also appearances in various festivals, like Coca Cola Summer Festival in Rome, Italy.  Check out the dates and the cities after the jump.....

This week's chart action is down for everything Eurovision related in Finland. The only exception being radio play that always lives a life of its own anyways. There Heroes by Måns Zelmerlöw continues to climb slowly, this week from 38. to 31. In the single's list he's down to 11. from last week's 5, and in the downloads down to 7. from last week's number one. In the albums  Perfectly damaged drops out top-50 from last week's 45. The Eurovision 2015 compilation is in its way out as well at 43.

The Eurovision song contest 2015 winner Måns Zelmerlöw climbs to #5 (from last week's #16) in the official Finnish singles Top-20 with Heroes being the only Eurovision song making it. Meanwhile the song stays at #1 in the Download charts for the second week. In the same chart Estonia's entry Goodbye to yeaterday by Stig Rästa & Elina Born drops to #21 (from last week's #2). In the radio playlist top-100 Heroes climbs to #38 (from last week's #57) In the album chart the Eurovision 2015 compilation drops to #21 (from last weeks #11) and  Pertti   Kurikan iImipäivät  's compilation "hits" album drops to #29 from last week's #13. This is its fourth week in Top-50 where it peaked at #4 in its release week. Måns Zelmerlöw' s Perfectly damaged enters the album charts at #45. 

Eurovision song contest 2015 winner Måns Zelmerlöw releases his new album Perfectly damaged today. It's his fourth pop album and obviously includes the winning track Heroes , plus 11 other songs, one of them featuring Tilde Vinther. The album has been recorded mostly between Copenhagen and London, and Måns has worked with several producers to make it sound versatile.  You can buy yours for example here . 

He didn't quite sting in Melodifestivalen but now he's back with all the Swedish girls. Sweden is hot in pop circuit right now even more than usual, thanks to Heroes by Måns Z so why not beat it while it's hot? The song has the brassy arrangement that was the best part of Sting , some whistling, a lot of Swedish girls, a moose, some fika , every possible vehicle to reach that one girl... yet it's not as catchy or uplifting as it's propably ment to be. Witthout the brass section also this one would be rather forgettable and boring. But hey, it's summer, anything goes!

Shy and lean 19-year-old Måns Zelmerlöw made his first steps in the spotlight ten years ago when entering Idols 2005. Eventually he would finish only 5th but his talent was noted and in the years to come he has been participating (and winning) Let's dance and hosted some major entertainment shows, including Melodifestivalen and Allsång på Skansen, a Swedish institution. He has starred in several musicals and scored a few hits from his three albums. However he needed to take part in Melodifestivalen three times before winning it. But the third try made him a hero as he also won Eurovision. Not only because of his song and voice, but he's handsome habitus. He surely has gotten some muscles and more hair over the years...... and has grown into a allround entertainer. 

Eurovision winner Måns Zelmerlöw returned home to Lund near Malmö today with a big welcome party at town's central square creating a happy chaos. The public demand for him to take over the hosting job next year is growing every minute and he has promised to think about it if he gets offered the job. SVT and local medias were streaming the event on websites just like his return home to Arlanda airport yesterday. Check out these photos from Expressen . Watch some here . 

The final is over, the votes are in and Sweden has won! Beating Russia and Italy who battled it out for the first part of the voting.... Stay tuned for full results and other stuff.... in a moment!

If Italy wins the televoting record breakingly the same hapens in the jury votes but with Sweden. Sweden gains 9,1 votes from every jury in average and 104 points more than the second one, Latvia. Russia managed third but Italy is snobbed and left distant six with average 4,4 points. The Finnish jury is a good example: Italy was third most televoted but the jury placed it only 19th. What happened to voting for vocals and hit potential?  Anyways, I repeat now what I have said and thought already before: The juries are good and there must be juries but they are way too small. There needs to be more people. Five people is way too limited and small. There should be at least ten, or preferably 15 like the good old days when they were 16 for years. One's individual dislikes wouldn't count that much, and one can't over talk the other four to not to like a certain entry so easily and make all vote against it. 

There it is. Very weirdly spread votes as the top-3 is way ahead of the three next than way ahead of the next three and then comes a huge drop for the rest. Once again Italy is the only Big5 doing any success as the other four ended up in bottom 7...... I'm happy for Belgium and Australia, also Latvia but I had Estonia in my top-5 (as I predicted the other four right). Norway, Israel, Serbia... I expected Azerbaijan and Slovenia doing better, and France of course but otherwise it's pretty much as I predicted at large.

My Flying reporter Robert caught last year's bronze medalist Sanna Nielsen on camera and she sends wishes to you all and hopes, no she knows Måns Zelmerlöw will make Sweden proud tonight. What do you think? Is Måns the man tonight?

Måns was parying last night in the Nordic Party but here he is giving another perfect performances. Not much to say as it is as it is, no changes. Even his outfit that hasn't been changed since Melodifestivalen 2 months ago. Hopefully it has been washed in between. Oh hang on, have they changed the ending? Hmm... Anyways, somehow it would be sooo boring if this won. It doesn't sound like a classic, nor a winner to me. I don't think it will. 

Propably the most awaited rehearsal today is of course Sweden. Everyone was curious to see how the sticky creatures have gotten fat over Easter time and dressed up after all the controversy. And they look fine. Otherwise the performance is pretty much the same, even Måns' outfit. The backdrop eye flashes a lot of red and yellow with pulsating beat. Shame the song's not better....  Sweden's promo is also kinda cute: 

Sweden seems to be the number one song to beat this year, if you believe the betting odds. What a surprise. The entry has also caused most headlines by being not only a bit too much inspired by this , but also the staging backgdrop has been heavily inspired by this , so much that they have agreed to change it (read: make him fatter and put some cloathes on. The figure, not Måns that is) and SVT pulled the video off to save them from some copyright war. This said Heroes sounds like a radiohit, but is it an Eurovision winner in the end? Maybe not....

The final of The Voice of Finland took place last night with several Eurovision connections. First of all Sweden's Måns Zelmerlöw was the guest and performed his Heroes . To be honest, he didn't impress that much. He is good and all, but the song without the gimmick just isn't very engaging, is it? Anyways, one of the main winning candidates was Jennie Storbacka. She only managed third though. Just like she did in Euroviisut 2005 with Kiss me . In 2006 she was 4th with Take me higher . Since then she has done a long career in musicals and is now ready to kickstart her solo career. But Eurovision is a part of a pastlife she declared.... The winner is another lady with a big voice, Miia Kosunen, from ex-Nightwish's Tarja Turunen's team. Her final song was surprisingly Bed on fire , from Melodifestivalen 2013 and Ralf Gyllenhammar. Conchita Wurst has revealed the tracklisting for her debut album to be released on May 15. The album obviously includes her Eurovision winner Rise like a Phoenix , the follow up singles Heroes and You are unstoppable . Her pre-Eurovision singles Unbreakable and That's what I am are not included. Shame, as this blogger likes both of them. They could have been included as "bonustracks" I guess. Anyhow, this is a must purchase!

Måns Zelmerlöw won hands down the Swedish final with a total of 288 points against Jon Henrik's 139. Nine out of 11 international juries gave him full marks and he also got twice the amout of televotes as the runner up. Heroes is a combination of a good artist, great staging and a catchy tune. No doubt one of the best songs this year in Vienna. Eric Saade only managed 5th when both juries and televote placed him 4th and Hasse passed him by one point :-) That must sting a bit!
