Life after Helsinki 2007 Eurovision

A total of 14 songs topped the official Finnish singles chart in the 2020 for anything between one week to an incredible 20 weeks. Nine of them were Finnish and the foreign one with the most weeks has a video directed by a Finn, namely Blinding lights . The queen of 2020 is BEHM who's Hei rakas  continued being number one also in 2020 after six weeks in the end of 2019 (and 12 in total in top-20 in 2019 and where it still stays in  week 53/20!). Her Frida has spent in the charts already 25 weeks in top-7 and spent 3 separate weeks at #1 and 15 weeks at #2! Tivolit spent 22 weeks in the top-20, three of them at #2. Her other seven album songs made the charts for a total of 34 weeks thanks to streaming.  If BEHM was the Queen then William was the King with 20 weeks on top with Penelope . The Weeknd was the real foreign contender and by the end of the year Vain elämää reality provided two #1 hits this season: Stig covering Arja Koriseva 's cover of Annikki Tähti 's cover ...

Auditions and 2.493 submissions later we had first 33 artists left (one of them curiously Nathan Trent who was then picked by Austrians to represent them), and finally five. To add some drama one of them Sadi was replaced. The national final had the weird and confusing combo of five singers but only two songs to choose. After various rounds we had only Levina left with both of those songs, and Perfect life was voted in the end. It's written by Lindsay Ray, Lindy Robbins and Dave Bassett.  Isabella Lueen (25) aka Levina is a singer-songwriter and lives between Berlin and London, where she finished her studies at the King's Collage. Italian music didn't do so well in the annual singles business and in Top-10 there's only one Italian song, Vorrei ma non posto by Fedez & J Ax. Marco Mengoni is at 43 with Ti ho voluto bene veramente and at 85 with Parole in circolo . Eurovision entrant Francesca Michielin at 63 with Nessun grado di separazione , that being the most sold song from Sanremo. Sanremo is almost totally absent from the singles top sellers. Various rappers have several songs in various combinations listed in Top-100.  If we look at the number ones it isn't any better really. Out of 18 number ones only 7 are Italian, including Francesca Michielin. ( In Finland it was a different story .....) The second ever Australian entry for the Eurovision song contest has been revealed. Dami Im will bring Sia-like power ballad with hints of Loreen to Stockholm. And doing that challenges right away Russia's Sergey Lazarev as the main contender for the title in May..... This blogger thinks it's good.
