Life after Helsinki 2007 Eurovision

It's time to dust this series. And we start with Craig David's 2000 release Born to do it . This album was a bit of a revolution for me. I hardly knew what 2-step garage was and didn't care for that so much, but the album's r'n'b, electrobeat and simply great melodies conquered me. I loved his voice, the sound and the arrangements and the album delivered hit after hit in the charts. Craig was still in his teens when this his debut was released and he wrote these songs. Before he had already hit the #2 with Artful Dodger and Re-Rewind (The crowd say Bo Selecta) and #6 with Woman trouble . His first solo singles Fill me in and 7 Days went to #1, Walking away #3 and  Rendez vous  #8. The album was re-released in the US including also fabulous Key to your heart .  The album sold over 8 million worldwide (over 1,8 million in the UK alone), making it one of the best selling r'n'b albums by an UK artist. Daniel Motiño Camúñez reports: The German girl band Monrose decided to put an end to the group and start solo careers; Mandy, Senna and Bahar disband after 4 years being the most popular German popstars band after No Angels. Monrose was born from the casting show Popstars , the same that created No Angels. They managed to bring popularity and high audiences back to the show after six years of failed bands unable to hit the charts since only No Angels achieved great success.The band was genuine since its begin, although being a German group its three members had Italian, Moroccan and Turkish origins framing the German society of the moment. Their first album Tempation went through number one on sales together with their single Shame , which also represented Germany in the Polish festival of Sopot in 2007 but failed to get the victory.  With Even heaven cries , they tried to enter Eurovision Song Contest, despite of being the big favorites, the great performance and ...

Ok, this is old news but worth a mention anyways. I adore Craig David. He's got one of the best voices ever. Period. And a string of very good songs to match, like and Walking away . Seven days , Rise & fall , Rendez vous , You don't miss your water , Insomnia and Rewind . For his Greatest Hits he recorded a new version with the old trick: guest singers from different markets like Nek for Italy and Alex Ubago for Spain. And for the German market he hired Monrose - and this gives me the Eurovision connection :-) - who took part in the German selection 2007 with Even heaven cries .  As I said this is old news as Craig is back already with a new album filled with fantastic Motown samples! And I adore Motown even more than I do Craig so it sounds like heaven. (Well, Janet Jackson did that already with her Janet album in 1993) Like in One more lie and All alone tonight . Why can't BBC just drop these talent shows and ask Craig next year?
