SUMMER EUROBOYS: SEBASTIEN TELLIER - ALLER VERS LE SOLEIL

Ok, I'm pushing the "boy" here a bit for Sebastien Tellier (Eurovision 2008 with Divine for France) but his new song is full of summer in the feeling (lounge chilling after a day at the beach, anyone?) and the song title Aller vers le soleil itself is already filled with sun. This is taken from his latest album L'Aventura released this May. Awesome landscapes in the video and the song kinda sticks to your head even if it's not really going anywhere, is it? Awkwardly  pleasant. A bit like his live performance . Featuring bearded woman btw.... So 2014, isn't it?

KEEPING UP WITH THE TRADITION: AMANDINE BOURGEOIS

Husky and sassy Amandine Bourgeois (33) will represent France in Malmö 2013 with L'enfer et moi , a song written for her by David Salkin and Boris Bergman who returns to the Eurovision for the third time. She hopes to relaunch her career that started with a bang after she won La nouvelle Star in 2008 and delivered an album that sold gold in France and hit the charts also in other French speaking countries. This is the moment for the girl who studied flute and learned the profession singing in covers bands while dreaming a duet with Whitney Houston but ended up dueting with Scorpions in Still loving you instead and working with Amy Winehouse's team in London for her second album. She has already done Royal Albert Hall, soon she will rock Malmö Arena. Recently she also took part in the musical phenomenon of the year in France, Génération Goldman singing Jean Jacques Goldman's Au bout de mes rêves with Emmanuel Moire. Her other songs include Envie d'un manque des pr...

The French affair

France has been selecting internally the past three years with three very different entries; Sebastien Tellier , Patricia Kaas and Jessy Matador . Each of them surely made themselves noted and La Kaas even scored the best placing for France in nearly ten years (8th) and Matador made it #1 in charts. But the rumour is France is going back to national final. The last one selected that way was Les Fatals Picards with L'amour à la française for Helsinki 2007. The other French national finals have produced rarely anything worth mentioning so maybe it is better stick to internally selecting someone big or original? On the other hand if they manage to attract good songs and artists because of Matador's chart success...? Well, let's see what they do ...

Eurovision stars in minor festivals this summer

As usual many Eurovision stars have been to most every minor festivals and competitions before Eurovision in their career and to many it opens the doors to do so after. This summer three of this year's entrants are trying their luck in Montenegrin Pjesma Mediterana or The Song of the Mediterranean: Boaz Mauda (Israel), MioDio (San Marino) and Tamara (Fyrom). In the competition are also other Eurovision veterans: Goran Karan (Croatia 2000) and Ekstra Nena (Yogoslavia 1992). More information here: http://copyright-budva.com/festival/ucesnici.php Ani Lorak instead performs in the Turkish Cesme Music Festival and Sebastien Tellier is touring Europe.

Sébastien Tellier for France?

The news spred in the internet this morning that Sébastien Tellier has been chosen to represant La France in Belgrade with Divine off his Sexuality album. At the same time some sources are talking (or I think wistfully hoping) about Alizée... I would rather have her anyways!
