Life after Helsinki 2007 Eurovision

In our exclusive interviews in Malmö 2013 Eurovision we asked the artists who would they like to represent their country next year in Denmark. Armenian Gor Sujyan of Dorians had an interesting proposal: his sister Yeva Sujyan . He would come and do the backing vocals (just like he did alreeady for Eva Rivas ). Keep it in the family! Yeva Sujyan has gained some fame in her home country, especially after participating in the first season (2010-2011) of local X Factor where she came 6th. She has also been performing in rock clubs with her band but apparently is yet to break through big time. Eurovision could do that for her. She certainly has an interesting voice and personality. Gor Sujyan, the lead singer of Armenian Dorians is the next one interviewed by the Bicycling reporter Robert in Malmö 2013 Eurovision. He tells - with the help of his lovely translater back up - how the band end up to Eurovision 2013 instead of 2012, how Black Sabbath Tony Iommi reacted when he heard his song was to be in Eurovision, how popular they actually are and how they ended up in Dubai. This is what you get when you are at home ill and spending time. More rumours. This time from Armenia. Such names as Tata . Eva Rivas , Dorians have been mentioned along with the very first of them all that has been around for months, Lucina Moon . Also, the Austrian Sankil Jones with his Fire is now aiming at Armenia after his song wasn't considered in Austria. The track indeed is a taylor made Eurovision track. In good and in bad. And it is very, very catchy. Watch at your own risk!

This week there has been many rumours running wild in internet and one of them is that Emmy will represant Armenia in Eurovision 2011. She didn't win this year when she sung with Mihran the rather horrendous  Hey (Let me hear you say) . (And I was very fine with that, I might say and happy with Eva Rivas) Her mother made a big fuss about it.... will she get her revenge this time? UPDATE 11.12.2010: It's been confirmed today that it will be indeed Emmy. Oh well. ..

Armenia will choose internally its represant for Dusseldorf 2011. The council of arts in ARMTV will pick up the artist and then a song. Whoever it is will have a though job to keep up the excellent Armenian record in Eurovision since their debut in 2006 when André took Without your love to 8th place, Hayko followed suit with Anytime you need , Sirusho did better with Qele qele reaching 4th. Inga and Anush stayed in top-10 with Jan Jan and Eva Rivas scored 7th place with Apricot stone in Oslo 2010. Nothing less would be good enough and the last two years their rival Azerbaijan has beaten them in the scoreboard.... In beforementioned Azerbaijan things are going to the opposite direction. A lenghty selection process has already kicked off and out of 120 hopefuls 90 have been picked up for the televised weekly heats - 12 artists in each - and the winners will move on to the next stage. Eliminations and heat go on until February 2 when we should know the Azeri artists for Dusseldorf 20...

Armenia next. And there's a bit of everything in it from growing three to pyros and fireworks and Eva's bosom and apricot colored dress and... you name it! Serious contender for the victory but it's more like Shady lady or Lasha tumbai, the runner up instead of a real winner. And it doesn't need the diaspora votes to get to the final this time. Video .

Eva Rivas will represant Armenia in the Oslo 2010 edition of Eurovision song contest and hopes to follow the Armenian success story in the contest - and I believe she will. The song Apricot stone , especially its lyrics seem to have been misunderstood by most but it is worth mentioning apricot has a special meaning to the Armenians, starting from its latin name prunus armeniaca, aka Armenian plum. It has been cultivated in the region for so long it is believed it originates from there and later spread all over. Well, so the legend dear to Armenians go, but propably apricots come from China, or maybe India where it was cultivated already 3000 BC. But who cares? The story is great, the song is catchy, Eva is pretty (and tall!) and the remix works fine, too. Listen and download here .

Vasyl Lazarovich will perform all songs tonight and the winner will be chosen 50-50 televote-jury. When? 18.00 CET. Where? Here . Adrenalin I know Shine of your star Don't wanna loose you I love you... Ok, after hearing the songs I think I love you will win. Or maybe Don't wanna loose you . However I love you was the one he seemed most comfortable performing. Beautiful ballad that where he was able to use his beautiful voice to the fullest. I also liked the mix of English and Ukrainian in it. Or the jazzy I know ? It sure it is classy. But Adrenalin maybe has the best staging... Good staging overal for all entries. And I'm so pleased we will have something anti-Lobodaish from Ukraine for a change!
