EUROVISION - BEST OF THE DECADE: DENMARK

Let's continue the series and kill some time having a look at the last decade and see who were the Top-10 best scoring countries in the Eurovision song contest in the past ten years. The ways to calculate are many and here I have used the simple average placement method (and it's not all so serious). Next up is Denmark at n.o 8. They have been doing constantly pretty well except two non qualification in between compensated by a win and additional three top-10 finishes in this decade. Anti Social Media is the one I hardly remember at all to be honest.... but I do remember Tim Schou's shirt all too well! And no one seems to like Soldiers of love , I do. Whereas Where I am .... not so much! 2011 A Friend in London - New tomorrow - 5th *** 2012 Soluna Samay - Shoud've known better - 23rd *** 2013 Emmelie De Forest - Only teardrops - WINNER ***** 2014 Basim - Cliché love song - 9th *** 2015 Anti Social Media - The way you are - NQ (13th in semi-final) ...

ESC 2017: ROUND UP WHAT'S BEEN GOING ON AROUND EUROPE

The Eurovision 2017 season has been officially open for two weeks now and some countries have already closed their submissions and started working on the material, like Finland where YLE is once again keeping quiet about the number of entries and all the rest. The artists will be notified their fate by the end of October and most probably the rest of us will know the selected ones only in January.  In Denmark the Eurovision fever is high despite failing to make the final this year and even their entrant Lighthouse X is also history as they broke up earlier this summer. A total of 1.115 entries were submitted, a new record. France is looking for a new Amir , aka following this year's successful format of finding an artist and a song that could be a hit already before we know it's the one for the Eurovision.  Submissions are open in Estonia and sadly they are opening up for non-native authors so that's where all the Melodifestivalen rejects will end up. Luckily ...

ESC 2016 DENMARK: THE SECOND REHEARSAL

Denmark has overcome the microphone etc troubles they had in the first rehearsal. For the rest it's all the same. Martin once again was a bit too close to the fire... when the pyros went off. I like this, always have unlike most everyone else it seems. Let's see if they make the final or not. I wouldn't be surprised if they did really. This should go well with the firt time listeners.

ESC 2016: DENMARK, NORWAY, SWEDEN AND ICELAND REVIEWS

Nordic four in this post. DENMARK - LIGHTHOUSE X - SOLDIERS OF LOVE (Søren Bregendel, Johannes Nymark, Martin Skriver, Sebastian Owens, Daniel Durn, Katrine Klith Andersen) Lighthouse X emerged as surprise winners in the Danish national final. Last two times when the contest has been in Sweden Denmark has won. This time the polls aren't backing this, but then - The Olsen Brothers never were taken into consideration either.... Blogilkar: For some reason I like this. It's very catchy and one of the most played songs in my ehad this season. It's nothing original, the lyrics are rather corny and cliché but everything works fine. Most likely Denmark won't do a triple, but then this could be a song no one hates and telelvoters like when hearing it the first time so it could end up scoring votes from everywhere. Who knows? 8 Jack:  Not the best, not the worst.. it's just kinda there. Nice, radio friendly but I don't think they'll set the scoreboard o...

ESC 2016 BEANIE STEREO: SOLDIERS OF LOVE IN THE SUN

Or rather songs that create mashups inside your head when singing them to yourself when sitting in a train or so.... I have especially this one this year, the Danish entry Soldiers of love turns into the Irish one Sunlight in my head almost everytime. It doesn't mean they are even simliar but they just blend together nicely in my head.... Do you have similar experiences with other songs? Let’s be soldiers of love, soldiers of love We stay together, we’ll live forever

ESC 2016 DENMARK: A TRIO OF SOLDIERS OF LOVE FOR THE GOOD CAUSES

The danish trio Søren, Johannes and Martin are real soldiers of love as each of them supports good causes, that are linked to their lives and they know what they are talking about. Their song captures the essence of their being. Explaining how important the song is to Lighthouse X, the group states the following: “It is the quintessential Lighthouse X song. No other song captures our message of love and hope and our vision of a better world as strongly as this one. So it’s a very important song to us, and when we perform it live, it feels truly empowering. We want to inspire everyone to be soldiers of love, and this is our battle hymn.”  The song was written the day after the terrorist attacks in Paris and inspired by them. Søren Bregendal supports grieving children and young adults that have either deadly ill or recently deceased siblings and parents. As a child, Søren suffered from quite severe OCD (Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is a common, chronic and long...
