Life after Helsinki 2007 Eurovision

One more exciting thing for Eurovision fans are the spokespersons as every year several previous (and sometimes future) Eurovision entrants re-appear to announce the votes of their country, or previous hosts like this year Alsou for Russia. or she's a double as she also did Eurovision as singer. For Italy it's lovely Federica Gentile, for San Marino John Kennedy O'Connor, a very familiar name for Eurovision freaks. And Finland gives the honor to Kristiina Wheeler, who would be a great entrant herself (What are you waiting for??). YLE has published the votes Finland gave and who were in the jury. The Finnish jury was Anni Hautala (radio speaker), Kristiina Wheeler (singer), Freeman (singer), Maki Kolehmainen (composer, producer) and Leri Leskinen (musicians, producer). They gave the following points: 12 points to Sweden + televotes = 12 10 points to Estonia + televotes = 10 8 points to Denmark + televotes = 5 7 points to Spain + televotes = 3 6 points to Russia + televotes = 8 5 points to Iceland + televotes = 7 4 points to France + televotes = 0 3 points to Germany + televotes = 1 2 points to Albania + televotes = 6 1 point to Norway + televotes = 0 0 points to Ireland + televotes = 4 0 points to Serbia + televotes = 2

Ok, here we go. Let's start with the ladies. As we have a lack of male pop singers in Finland and I wanted to make things even several names in the ladies category were left out and I went for these: Jonna Geagea , ex-Nylon Beat. She has just released her solo single Taasko se alkaa? and has previous Euroviisut experience both as solo as Nylon Beat. She's about to release her real solo debut album, what would be better promotion than Euroviisut? Milana Misic , the eternal promise. And it is the 50th anniversary of the first Finnish entry in Eurovision, sung by her mother. Isn't it time for her to make it for real? Here she covers her mother. Kristina Wheeler , hopefully in collaboration with Chisu. She had two small hits from her debut album, has done a lot of charity work in Africa and such things that sound good in an international festival and could use Euroviisut as well to finally make it. I don't know if she doesn't want to, or didn't YLE ask. Chisu would be so great for Eurovision! She is the Finnish version of Myléne Farmer (and yes, that i s a compliment). Not meaning that she would be a copycat, just that she makes her own kind of music and being rather unique in her own recognizable sound in Finland. She has written songs and produced artists like Jippu , Antti Tuisku , Kristiina Wheeler , Tarja Turunen and Kristiina Brask before finally releasing her debut album Alkovi (#5) last year.She basicly recorded it alone in her bedroom. It delivered a megahit Mun koti ei oo täällä that stayed #1 for 8 weeks, Muut and Tämä rakkaus . The second album Vapaa ja yksin (#10) was released not a long time ago and its first single Baden-Baden is already a #3 hit.

Ok, it's time to start thinking and wondering who YLE has invited for Euroviisut 2009. It is also interesting to see if they keep inviting only new names as no artist has been yet invited twice. One name that comes to mind is Kristiina Wheeler . Who, I hear you? Well, I don't know much of her either but she seems to be up and coming and finishing her debut album to be released soon. She's 25, half British, used to be a TV-host and has released two radio friendly singles so far: You'll be gone and Sunny day and has collaborated for a couple of movie soundtracks.
