Life after Helsinki 2007 Eurovision

A total of 18 songs made it to the number one in the official Finnish singles charts in 2017;  15 of them being Finnish! But as the Finnish ones, mostly various pop rapper, shot to the top and dropped out in a week or two mostly, the foreign ones stayed on top for several weeeks and months making a total of 30 weeks! The hugely popular Vain elämää's two seasons both gave us countless radiohits but only two made it to #1 (Nikke Ankara and Cheek with a Jari Sillanpää cover) last year, one from each series. There are no semifinals this year but it doesn't mean one has to settle with one off final. No no no. YLE is having on Thursday and Friday pre-shows for #umk17 hosted by Mikko Silvennoinen live on stream and later recorded on TV2.  Let's see what we can expect later this week: Thursday - live stream at 5pm CET and in TV2 9pm CET The stage is revealed with footage from the rehearsals. The 2016 was rich with Number One songs in the official singles chart. A total of 26 songs made it, and the most remarkable thing is 21 of them were Finnish! Sadly only Finnish (humour) rap though. The foreign number ones go to Alan Walker, Justin Bieber featured by Mazor Laser or DJ Snake, and Clean Bandit & co.  Elastinen and JVG are featured in four #1's, Mikael Gabriel, Sanni, Cheek and Arttu Lindeman in three and even Nikke Ankara in two. These are the nominess for the Newcomer of the year Emma, aka Finnish Grammy. Some real talent here and quite a few questionable ones, IMHO. But what do I know? Alma (20) made herself known in Idols three years ago where she finished 5th but then disappeared from the spotlight. She kept working and exploded this year with Karma , Bonfire and Dye my hair both nationally and internationally. Her debut album will be released in 2017 and the expectations are high, both by public and critics. Interesting talent indeed. She should just walk this category.  Arttu Lindeman (20) is a videoblogger and rap artist. Thanks to his huge following in web he has scored four Spotify #1s this year with Läikkyy , Faijas , Menee tunteisiin and Hukutaan . Fans like, critics don't. I don't.  Evelina (21), like Alma, made her first appearance in a talent show, The Voice. She didn't get that far and it took a few years and she was back; ready and succesful.
