EUROVISION 2021: REHEARSAL DAY 5: LITHUANIA, SLOVENIA, RUSSIA

Today the first semi-final ones (except for Malta) had their second rehearsal, this time 20 minutes that allowed them about three run throughs to see the adjustments made after the first rehearsals and try possible further ones as the next rehearsal will be already the first full semi final show rehearsal next Monday. Photos and videos as always lovingly from eurovision.tv   Lithuania is a perfect opener after two years break of Eurovision: upbeat, quirky, fun catchy tune with a choreography that gives enough fun for those looking for Eurovision cliches. The main colors are black and purple with their yellow wardrobe that stands of course for hope. Should be an easy qualifier and even Top-10 in the final. A little hic up in second rehearsals as frontman Vaidotas sound receiver decided to dance alone a bit but a real professional he is he fixed it with some improvised dance routine and disarming smile.  Slovenia's main problems seemed to be Ana's problems with her dress rather ...

SLOVENIA: ANA SOKLIC BRINGS GOSPEL TO EUROVISION 2021 WITH AMEN

Ana Soklič, who won the national final for Eurovision 2020 in Slovenia was internally selected for this year's contest and tonight she has unveiled the internally chosen song. Originally it was planned a mini national final with two songs to choose from like in Spain but in the end they just delivered the song, Amen . This year due to pandemic it is allowed to use recorded backing vocals and taking advantage of that they go all gospel in the choir. Why I have the feeling Slovenians have went fishing in the same pool where Tamara Todevska found her jury pleasing Proud ?

EUROVISION 2020 REVIEWS: MOLDOVA, SLOVENIA, POLAND, NORWAY

Moldova - Natalia Gordienko - Prison One of those songs that are just "nice" in every way: melody, idea, vocals... but being so anonymous it leaves you nothing and even after several hearings you really don't remember a thing about. Except the overproduced over the top beats and arrangements. 3/10 Slovenia - Ana Soklič - Voda This is the complete opposite of Moldova. I liked it from the first hearing but then it has just grown and become better! Ana has proved the past months she's one of the best, if not the best, vocalist this year. The song is beautiful and she sings it with style and gusto. And for once the new version is better than the original mix. Could have been maybe a surprise success in Rotterdam, who knows? 8/10 Poland - Alicja - Empires This song's a problem for me. I'd like to like it a lot more than I do in the end. Alicja does a great job for her age, the song is melodic and boombastic without becoming a cliché. But someh...

SLOVENIA: ANA SOKLIC WINS EMA 2020 AND GOES TO EUROVISION

Slovenia's Eurovision 2020 entry was decided last night in EMA 2020 final. In the first round a jury of previous Eurovison entrants Darja Švajger (1995 and 1999), Nuša Derenda (2001) and Maja Keuc (2011) chose two songs for the superfinal. Then televoters alone voted out the winner. Like this: Ana Soklič - Voda   5.035 (54%) Lina Kuduzović - Man like u  4.369 (46%) Ana Soklič (36) has studied music since childhood and been performing live releasing a single every now and then. The major spotlight came last year when she won tewo awards in the Slovenian music festival Slovenska popevka: Best performance and Best song. She's also a song writer and has written Voda herself with Bojan Simončič. The snippet released beforehand didn't really do any favours for Voda. Hearing it live with Ana's convincing performance made all the difference. It's good.  Check out all the performances below: Simon Vadnjal - Nisi sam Saška - Še kar lovim t...
