Life after Helsinki 2007 Eurovision

No surprise and happy ending. Farid Mammadov won the Azeri national selection tonight with Hold me in a final that wént down in history what comes to singing false, out of tune and with bad English. None of the ten finalists escaped both of them, someone managed to sing in tune, and someone else in pretty good English. Farid clearly had the best combination and was a clear winner. Leyla Oliyeva has a quite good song, Welcome to the sun as did Rovana Oliyeva with Big time. She was maybe the one that got closest of singing well, pronouncing well and even performing well. But Farid is a good choice anyways. Oh, and do we want to talk about the camerawork?

The host country's long selection process comes to an end when tonight the five remaining artists will give their all to be the one in homesoil and on stage of Chrystal Hall in Baku in May 2012. Most likely they will sing covers, like last year, and a song for the winner will be selected internally (or better bought from somewhere like Sweden...). Anyways, here are the finalists: Orkhan Kerimli, Sabina Babayeva, Elton Ibrahimov, Faqan Safarov and Arzu Ismayilova . My favourite is from the first semifinal the Azeri Tarkan, Orkhan.

The Azeri selection that started ages ago, or November 2011, showed us 72 of the 119 hopefuls to represant their homecountry on home soil has got us the eight heat winners. The show should go on in the same manner and five will go on to the final stage. My favourite is the Azeri tarkan, Orkhan. Anyways, those who are left are: Orkhan Kerimli (19) - Milim Maryam Karimova (32) - Wild dances Khayyam Mustafazade (25) - Molitva Faqani Safarov (22) - Fairytale Elton Ibrahimov (17) - Sake it up, shekerim Adil Bakhishli (23) - Lane moje Sabina Babayeva (32) - Natural woman Arzu İsmayılova - Someone like you

The host country's search for the singer for home stage continues and Milli Secim Turu 2012 has given us two new qualifiers the past two weeks. last week Elton Ibrahimov qualified and this week Adil Bakhishli . Elton did Shake it up, shekerim , Crazy little thing and Khaleena nshoofak . Adil did amongst others Lane moje , Judas and Sorry seems to be the hardest word . The selection is turning rather male as Maryam Karimova is the only lady who has made it through so far.
