BULGARIA: IT'S VICTORIA FOR EUROVISION 2020

Singer-songwriter Victoria Georgieva (22) was announced today as Bulgaria's internally selected artist for the Eurovision song contest 2020 in Rotterdam. Bulgaria returns to the contest after placing 4th and 2nd and then flopping somewhat with an international operhyped supergroup before skipping out last year. Now they put their hopes on a fresh local talent again, Victoria made herself known in the X Factor 2015/16 even if she only placed 6th and is set to release her debut album next spring. Bulgaria's Eurovision adventure is apparently aimed more to make her promotion rather than winning it, making the whole affair a bit more humble and likable than their last effort to be honest.  Victoria's entry is expected to be released in March 2020.

EUROVISION 2020: IT'S ROTTERDAM VS. MAASTRICHT

Rotterdam started as a front runner the race as the host for Eurovision song contest 2020 but then came Maastricht with its bid and presentation and is now really challenging Rotterdam. As the Dutch broadcasters dismissed the other candidates , we now have to wait for the EBU delegation to have a visit to both of these cities and be introduced to the venues and intended opening ceremony, red carpet, Eurovision village and other venues as well as the overal plan and idea of the 2020 contest.... Rotterdam is the second biggest city in the Netherlands and its history goes back to 1270 while it's a city since 1340. It's also Europe's biggest port with a population of about 635.000. The city center was nearly completely distroyed in the World War II and today its skyline is heavily marker by skyscrapers and some very original modern architecture. Rotterdam also has the oldest metro in the Netherlands, it opened in 1968 and today it has five lines. Today it's also...

EUROVISION WISH LIST: SAAD LAMJARRED/ سعد لمجرد

Should Morocco return to Eurovision one day soon Saad Lamjarred would be a perfect artist to come back with if he didn't have several rape allegations and investigations in his CV (but even the King of Morocco helped him to get rid of them). His music is pure Moroccan pop but easy enough for Western ears with lyrics in Arabic and French, with some occasional English thrown in. Modern sounds but original and true to their own musical heritage. Saad was born in Rabat to an artistic family his father being classical singer and mother actress and comedian, and Saad himself doesn't seem to be too serious himself, something that would certainly help him in the Eurovision bubble to charm everyone. He has also acted in a soap opera, placed 2nd in a talent show, collected MTV Music award nomination and other awards and nominations. Listen to Let go , Ghaltana , LM3ALLEM  (nearly 675 million views the most viewed Arab video that gives him also the Guinness world record for 500 milli...

EUROVISION GOES TO ASIA (AND AMERICA) BUT DOES ANYONE REALLY CARE?

Past few days Eurovision fansites and blogs have went gaga over the Eurovision Asia contest announcement (and the hypotetial America Eurovision contest) but this blogger is like Meh . As excited as about the Junior Eurovision or don't even mention the dancers or choirs thing. Not that into you, sorry.  While the American one, already announced and quickly vanished from radar in the 2000's , is very unlikely to happen now either, the Asia one seems to be taking shape this time around. Labeled as the Asian-Pacific version of the Eurovision song contest it might be a bit interesting. However, don't expect more coverage from this blogger than I do for the Junior one: one before and one after.  After all, outside the fandome bubble, who is really interested? Even the promo video has been watched just 43.000 times in two weeks. Considering about the zillion people living in Asia, it should be 4,3 million by now..... (And whatever happened to OurSound ?) I'm oldfash...
