DENMARK. HOW INVINCIBLE, UNBREAKABLE THEY ARE?

Danish TV has put the full songs online and this blogger takes a moment to listen them through. As usual a very strong line up in Denmark, and I am repeting myself but usually the Danish entries I like a lot don't do well in Eurovision, and the other way round. Let's see how it goes this year! By hearing only the songs are very hard to judge, as I like most of them. Or let me rephrase that: I can listen them without problems and wanting to turn them off after a minute as usually happens with most of the national selection songs - all those hundreds of them a true fan and blogger has to hear every winter. The live performance and staging can kill a song, or make it stand out so I think the competition is that department is more crucial than ever this year. There is no clear favorite it seems and it all comes down to those three minutes this Saturday... I had two clear favorites in the end.... or maybe three. Listen yourself here . 1. THE DANISH TEN, BRINCK RETURNS

I like Denmark. Or at least their way of selecting the song for Eurovision: the good old days one nighter! No endless selections and/or presentations and heats and eliminations and second chances. Ten songs, one night and that's it! Like it used to be. Denmark is supposed to be the next country to select their entry for the next-door contest in Malmö 2013 on January 26, 2013 (unless some odd country comes out of the blue and presents its song in the meantime) and today DR gave us a hint of the songs that you can hear here . As the Danish songs I like in Eurovision always fail while those I don't like end up in top-5 I will not add further comment about the songs as yet, even if a couple of them did get me interested. And yes, unfortunately there is a certain Thomas G:son among the songwriters.... but so is Bryan Rice, so there is hope! Oh, and Albin is Swedish, San Gray British. Here they are: Frederikke Vedel -  Jeg har hele tiden vidst det Brinck - Human Kate Hall -...

MURI & MARIO, DANISH EUROVISION HOPEFULS

DR received a record breaking 692 songs for their national final 2013. Among the hopefuls Brinck, who's Believe again in 2009 would have deserved so much more (Once again I repeat, when I like the Danish entry it does not so good, when I don't like them they end up in top-5. Go figure...) and has become one of the most covered Eurovision songs internationally of the recent year. Will he make it better? The other known name to have sent in songs in Muri & Mario, a duo of rapping singing guys that have the habit of dropping into their songs words and phrases in rather challenging Italian, or listen to  Hun tog min guitar , Mio amore , Tysind stykker , På netdate fandt vi sammen , Cosa del amor and if you speak Italian you know what I mean. However, this put aside, there's something about them that I like. And so do the Danes, they have scored big in the charts with these songs! Will they end up crossing the  Øresund to Malmö 2013?

Escradio Awards 2009

The listeners of Escradio have had their say this year again. Five countries managed to get a top-5 placing in both Best song and Best Male artist/Female artist/Group category: Norway, Iceland, France and maybe a bit surprisingly Estonia, and even more so Denmark. The listeners agreed with the overall result when Norway and Iceland take the top-2 places in best song category while France comes a well deserved third followed by Estonia and Denmark. Alexander Rybak wins also the best male artist category leaving Sakis Rouvas second while Yohanna wins the female one, followed by Patricia Kaas. Aysel & Arash win the group category followed by Urban Symphony. Full results here: http:// www.escradio.com/awards2009/results.asp?id=1

In Moscow 2009: Denmark believes again

Denmark completes today's rehearsals and also the very strong Nordic offering in this year's contest - will we see all Nordic countries in the final again? Brinck has a great voice and sings well and when your song is strong and catchy enough less is more: the staging is very simple rock band presentation but Brinck has enough charisma and self confidence to fill the stage. No gimmicks except the obligatory pyros in the end. I guess they could do without them and it would be ever better. When simple is good why overdo it? Do we have another Fly on the wings of love in our hands? http:// http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QJBo1wadMRA

BRINCK FOR DENMARK!

Niels Brinck has won the Dansk Melodi grand prix 2009 superfinal against Hera Björk with Believe again , a song co-written by Irish Ronan Keating. Also Hera's song has interesting authors: a group of Danish and Swedish Eurofans! Congrats to everyone, especially you guys! This said, I think Believe again was a better choise. It's very catchy, easy on the ear and memorable. In short it sounds like a hit and might go very far in Moscow.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uAeF2QgQ8Ro The Danish televoters first chose 4 songs to be paired and Hera Björk beat Sukkerchok and Brinck beat Johnny Deluxe in this round. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pexBmEk262A , http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hmuTvkY-YH8 , http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FejRRzd9rAc , http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GToi8F7yDX4 , http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DqjsMskz-Nk , http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TC42erX21K8 , http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KwUgqsPLB-Y , http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nRd0V2VhHLc , http://www.youtub...
