ITALY: SANREMO 2022 SONGS HAVE SOLD ALREADY OVER 2,2 MILLION COPIES

Sanremo 2021 was a record breaking success, but Sanremo 2022 has by far outdone that already as the competing songs have sold over 2,200.000 million copies already and gained 24 platinum discs and seven gold discs. So far.  One can only wonder - and then look with amazed - how Amadeus is going to make it ever bigger and better in 2023. The first rumours are already running wild of the possible "certain" guests (Britney Spears and/or Lady Gaga, Fedez) and competitors (Al Bano, Tananai, Rocco Hunt) as well as guest hosts (Chiara Ferragni, Gianni Morandi) and most of all, whho knows the comeback of Paola & Chiara? Meanwhile let's enjoy again these hit songs! Sold over 500.000 (5xplatinum) Mahmood & Blanco - Brividi (Winner) Sold over 300.000 (3xplatinum) Sangiovanni - Farfalle  (5th) Dargen D'Amico - Dove si balla  (9th) La rappresentante di lista - Ciao ciao  (7th) Sold over 200.000 (2xplatinum) Irama - Ovunque sarai  (4th) Rkomi - Insuperabile  (17t...

EUROVISION: HAS THE RENAISSANCE OF NATIONAL LANGUAGES BEGUN?

The national languages have made great comeback post-covid. If in 2019 the only non-English songs on top were Italy second and Iceland 10th, in 2021 the whole Top-3 was non-English but also 5th. This year the trend continued with the winner and 3rd, 5th, 6th, 7th and 9th place. Even 11th! And even the 2nd if we could United Kingdom that did sung in its own language. Three out of last five winners have been non-English songs while all but Ukrainian ones (2004 and 2016) partly, and Serbian 2007 winner have been non-English since Israel' Diva back in 1998 before the free language rule. Otherwise it's been pretty much on Italy's shoulders since their comeback in 2011. As an old school Eurovision fan I can't be but very happy about this and wish more and more countries would take the chance to send something in their own language for a change, or even bring that national language rule back! And those mixed versions like Portugal and Croatia this year are always a welcome co...

... AND THEY WERE 5.000.000! THANK YOU!

Here it is. Five million hits. I never thought I would see this day when I started this little blog long time ago. But you keep coming back and slowly it all ads up. Some years have been busier, 2009 being the top of the tops with some incredible figures, some less but the flow of visitors is a steady never stopping flow. I am so grateful and keeps me going even if with each new million milestone I have been planning to stop this adventure and concentrate on something else and this five million was meant to be The One but then came Måneskin and Italy won! It's impossible to stop now as I always said I will be present at Eurovision again only if and when Finland or Italy wins again.... So.... I guess I will go on at least another year. Or another million? Thank you! Grazie! Kiitos!

ITALY: SANREMO FINAL WATCHED BY 58,3% OF VIEWERS, AVEERAGE VIEWING FIGURES BEST SINCE FOREVER

The success continued obviously also on the final night when 58,3% of Italian television viewers chose Teatro Ariston with Claudio Baglioni, Michelle Hunziker and Pierfrancesco Favino and their guests Laura Pusini and Fiorella Mannoia and the rest. That's an average of 12.125.000, slightly less than last year but bringing the average of all five nights to recordbreaking  52,16% . The peak was 76,57% when the winner wa announced. Many had doubts that they could keep up with Carlo Conti's last three highly succesful editions - he was the only one who managed to do better every year and top himself - but actually they beat him and score the best figures since forever. Below are the average share and the presenters in the near past.  A lot of praise also for Michelle Hunziker, the real presence on stage and her sidekick Pierfrancesco Favino, who conquered the viewers as well. Claudio Baglioni himself was more like a father figure keeping eye on his kids and singing...

ITALY: SANREMO 2017 SUCCESS CONTINUES WITH 49,5%

This year's Sanremo festival is really enjoying a great success and no wonder, carlo Conti and Maria De Filippi work well together, the guests are interesting and variable and Italians even like the comedians in between. Last night an average of 10.420.000 viewers watched the show, 49,5% share. Tho show peaked at 15.578.000  scoring 55,12% share. A bit better than last year. And the best 3rd night result since 2011.

ITALY: SANREMO 2017 PEAKS AT 27,3 MILLION VIEWERS!

It's a success. Already on the first night the 67th Sanremo festival is proving to be a winning formula with Carlo Conti and Maria De Filippi. Last night was the highest share in 12 years, 50,4% or in average 11,4 million viewers. A total of 27,3 million hits during the night or people who have at least had a peak what's going on in Teatro Ariston.  Ricky Martin brought the audience share up to peak at 57,1%. Also the after show DopoFestival enjoyed a great success, the highest audience since 2003! Carlo Conti comments the success with "we still have four nights to go on, Let's see after!" And he confirms this is his last festival. Shame! This blogger thinks he's been an excellent host and artistic director these three years.

FINLAND: #UMK17 WAS A VIEWING SUCCESS

Dropping the semifinals and concentrating only to produce a big final with added active social medias buss seems to have worked well for YLE and #UMK17. The show was the 2nd most watched of the week with 1.397.000 viewers, beated only by Putous, a commercial tv's entertainement and comedy character show that is enjoying immense success, it scored last week 1.721.000, which is though less than its previous and season's opening show.
