Life after Helsinki 2007 Eurovision

Greece has chosen Klavdia and her Asteromata (Αστερομάτα) for Basel 2025 Eurovision song contest. She beat another fan favorite Evangelia by 2 points. The show was hosted by Sakis Rouvas and Helena Paparizou and featured besides them belting out their respective Eurovision entries most every other Greek Eurovision entry plus the Cypriot entrant Theo Evan belting out in play back Fuego. Klavdia Papadopoulou /  Κλαυδία Παπαδοπούλου (23) is yet another The Voice alumni. She went all the way to final stages of contest in Eurovision winner Helena Paparizou's team but failed to make the top-4. in 2018. She secured however a recording deal and has been delivering hits ever since. She released her debut EP last year and has released six singles before her Eurovision entry Asteromata. Enjoy her previous hits below: Ethnikos thelikos results: 1. Klavdia - Asteromata  44 2. Evangelia - Valé  42 3. Barbz - Sirens  30 4. Dinamiss - Odyssey  24 5. Xannova Xan - Pla...

Que Dieu me pardonne

I'm off to Greece for holidays so here's meanwhile some Greek artist for you  to discover and enjoy.... In the end of this journey I may have found a new favorite :-) and with Έλενα Παπαρίζου

Some more new sounds before we are all taken over by the 2019 Eurovision songs full time..... Naviband has released  ВДАЛЬ that translates to distance, far away. Nice little electronic tune with 80s vibe a bit different from the etnofolk I knew from them before.... Eurovision winner Helena Paparizou is back with  Άσκοπα Ξενύχτια (Needless nights). It's always nice to hear her in Greek instead of English. Tim Schou is another artist that keeps releasing new music all the time and Acapella is a little acoustic number. Highly enjoyable! As usual.  Nathan Trent has released Legacy ,  "The song 'Legacy' is about the realization of self-worth, self-belief and the decision to care less about other's opinions and expectations. Essentially, it's an ode to physical and emotional independence and the value of creation." Ok.

After playing with the social media (San Marino is bcoming a real master in that game!) and fans speculating wild and getting the media write about them all over Europe (even Finland) thanks to Human Ken doll Rodrigo Alves and some Russian wannabe among others they announced Turkish Serhat will come back again and represent the county in its 10th participation. Now we all can say in unison: I didn't know . The song for 2019 will be made public in February.  Between 2016 and 2019 Serhat has scored a #25 hit on Billboard Dance chart in the US with re-released of his entry featuring Martha Wash, and dueted with Eurovision winner Helena Paparizou.

Emmelie has been a bit lost ever since her win, and has released a sting of undisturbing singles and History isn't any exception. Nice but forgettable.... After dusting off I didn't know with Martha Wash Serhat does the same with Helena Paparizou for his oldie Total disguise , then in duet with Eurovision presenter Viktor Lazlo.... The question remains: why? The Azeri victory remains still a mystery (well... really?) and both winners haven't really been heard of ever since. This is one of Eldar's latest, dating 1,5 years ago. I miss you is his latest.  His partner in victory Nigar Jamal hasn't bothered the international charts since then either. Her latest (?) Sus is kinda nice ethnic pop. Worth a listen.

The Fizz (or Eurovision 1981 winners Bucks Fizz) continue their comeback success with second single Amen (following amazing Dancing in the rain ). The video is very fitting for this Halloween period. Welcome back! San Marino's Eurovision entry I didn't know by Serhat has been re-released as a new duet version with legendary disco queen Martha Wash . As much as I love her she isn't bringing much extra to the table and it's a shame. Martha: belt it out LOUD! As no one does that as beautiful as you do.... Another Eurovision winner Helena Paparizou has released for a change a goodie in Greek, An me deis na klaio , apparently translates to If you make me cry . It features Anastasios Rammos and is the best thing I've heard from her for years! Check out also this live version ! (And so great Greece will sing in Greek again in Eurovision!) Third Eurovision winner in this post is Loreen . Yet another release from her worthcoming album, Hate the way I...
