NEW RELEASES FROM SURIE, SEVAK KHANAGYAN, BLANCHE AND NATHAN TRENT

Eurovision Class of 2017 and 2018 release follow ups to their entries. This year's UK entrant SuRie releases Taking it over and fandom seems to agree it's fab, great and fantastic. How ironic - it's like any album track from Jamala really (which in my book is a positive thing) but how come no one's getting excited about Jamala's songs? I wonder. This year's Armenian Sevak Khanagyan goes up tempo compared to his entry but his voice is very recognisable.  Зеркала aka Mirrors is a very Russian sounding pop. Last year's Belgian Blanche continues with Wrong turn the same style but less intensive and less effective. Austrian Nathan Trent teams up with J-Mox for Secrets .

BELGIUM: EVERYBODY WANTS TO DO EUROVISION 2018

When you are riding high on success, everyone wants to be part of it. If Belgium - like so many other countries - may have been struggling to get big names taking part in the Eurovision, a few years of success has changed it all. After the success of new, fresh and rather unknown talents of Loic Nottet, Laura Tesoro and Blanche most every Eurovision wannabe of the yesteryears is lining up now from Natalia to Kate Ryan, from Gene Thomas to Isabelle A, De Romeo's, Belle Perez and Ozark Henry, most adding "if the song is right".  Peter van de Vleire however revealed VRT will be delecting once again internally and this blogger thinks they might stick to the young, fresh and new talent formula instead. (Something like Emma Bale for example!) Maybe they should, too, judging the videos below.... But then who knows? Maybe Kate Ryan does deserve a new chance after her 2006 disaster?

AMAR PELOS DOIS BY SALVADOR SOBRAL HITS #1 IN FINNISH CHARTS

Well, not in the official singles chart but in the official Download chart, week 20/2017. But he's not the only Eurovision song contest act as also Blanche's City lights from Belgium enter the Top-10 at #10 and Italy's Francesco Gabbani's Occidentali's Karma appear at #17.  The downoad chart is the fastest moving chart so one can expect there's no trace of any of them next week..... sadly.  In Radio play chart Amar pelos dois enters at #55 and no sign of any other Eurovison songs in the Top-100.....

ESC 2017 KYIV - DAY 5: BELGIUM SECOND REHEARSAL

Are they going to lose it all? Belgium entered the danger zone the moment Blanche walked on stage. In a way that hasn't happened in Eurovision for years and years. From the top favorite to the bottom. All looked and sounded so great on a video, but here, singing live.... she's scared and looks like she's going to burst to tears any moment and it effects her voice. On top of that a princess dress that would have been good on Zoe belting out Loin d'ici and a backdrop that is pretty and nice indeed, but completely wrong for this song. For once we have a song that would perfectly fit some corny New York city lights in black and red from some random television crime series from the 1980's. And we get this. I'm buzzled.  Maybe they are pulling our leg all the way and come Monday jury final and Tuesday's broadcast and a miracle happens? If not, Belgium is indeed deep in the danger zone and risks going home on Tuesday.... From the pre-contest #2 slot. ...

ESC 2017 KYIV - DAY 1: BELGIUM FIRST REHEARSAL

Oh dear, Belgium. I have been trying to keep hope up and believe she can make it. But judging the first rehearsal adding to what we have seen in the previous promo events Belgians will be very disappointed come final - if they even make it at this rate. From a Top-3 pre-contest favorite to a total mess on stage. And whatever happened to the great video footage? Their backdrop is kinda nice, but not for this song. Blanche seems very lost on stage and nervous and her voice seems to be left home in belgium, too. Not really sure what to think.... I'm just sad.

ESC 2017 REVIEW BELGIUM (09): BLANCHE - CITY LIGHTS

Pictured is the national flower of Belgium, poppy Belgium's French speaking television is in charge this year and as usual selected internally their artist. This time it's Blanche, yet another artist for The Voice Belgique. Her song City lights was also internally selected among the songs she was working on for her debut album. It's written by Pierre Dumoulin and Blanche herself.  Ellie Delvaux (17) aka Blanche for the artistic life. She entered The Voice Belgique last year but unlike previous Eurovision starts Roberto Bellarosa and Loic Nottet she didn't get that far in the competition, but her special dark voice left a mark. She won't pass unnoticed at the Eurovision either for sure and with some luck might have an international hit in her hands. I have to stress again I'm writing these reviews mostly before the live performances in the promo events. It seems the fans have been a bit disappointed by Blanche's stage presense and vocals, but e...

BELGIUM: BLANCHE PRESENTS CITY LIGHTS FOR EUROVISION

A bit of ahead of time Blanche, internally selected for Belgium presents her City lights for Eurovision song contest 2017. Me likes! And apparently so do many others as this has rocketed right behind Italy on top of the betting odds....

BELGIUM: BLANCHE INTERNALLY SELECTED FOR KYIV 2017

Also Belgium has internally selected its artist, it's Ellie Delvaux aka Blanche. She is known from The Voice where she came reached semifinals and thus follows the footsteps of Roberto Bellarosa and Loic Nottet - only that those two came 1st and 2nd. No news about he song but apparently it's a song from her forthcoming EP....
