ESC 2015 PORTUGAL: THE FINAL LINE UP AND LITTLE REVIEW

After two semifinals Portugal has chosen its final line up. Even if the Festival da Canção has a much more modern look than last year, it's still like something that came out of a time capsule. There is live music but the band is so small it pretty much has ruined most of the songs. If you can't have a full orchestra, backing track is a good choice, don't compromise. The songs have been pretty dated (or ruined by the beforementioned band), but there are a couple of good ones, one in particular. All my hope is in it. Televoters have done much better job that the composers who have added two songs to the final line up, in both cases the worst song of the evening for this blogger. What were they thinking? Saving their own asses by choosing the worst? Below are the songs in my ranking. Yola shines over all the rest clearly. I like Leonor, but it should have a new arrangement and remix before Vienna. The rest is hopeless. Teresa and Simone are not bad by no means, just I d...

ESC 2015 PORTUGAL: SEMIFINAL TWO TONIGHT

Portugal will add another three songs to the final line up for this Saturday. Televoters will pick up two, and the jury of the participating composers another one. Tonight we have also Simone De Oliveria (77) who seems to be still waiting for the songs after her Eurovisions 1965 and 1969. Not really, as she has said she's not here to win and does not want to go to Vienna. Then one could argue, why she's here at all? Rubi Machado - Quando a Lua Voltar a Passar José Freitas - Mal Menor (Ninguém me Guia à Razão) Teresa Radamanto - Um Fado em Viena Simone de Oliveira - À Espera das Canções Filipe Gonçalves - Dança Joana Diana Piedade - Maldito Tempo UPDATE: The finalist by televoters and jury are Teresa Radamanto and Simone de Oliveira. The composers chose José Freitas for the final and this blogger asks again, just like last night: What were they thinking? Perhaps sending the worst to the final to secure their own chances? The first semi was better, and (hopeful...

Sara Tavares (ESC 1994) has written Rita Seidi's song.  Portugal will select its entry in the first week of March with two semifinal on 3rd and 5th and the grand final on 7th. Six songs will make the final. This will be Portugal's 48th entry since 1964 and they are yet to win the contest. Could it be finally? Adelaide Ferreira – Paz Diana Piedade – Maldido Tempo Filipa Baptista – A Noite Inteira Filipe Gonçalves – Dança Joana Gonçalo Tavares – Tu Tens Uma Mágica José Freitos – Mal Menor (Ninguém Me Guia À Razão) Leonor Andrade – Há Um Mar Que Nos Separa Rita Seidi – Lisboa, Lisboa Rubi Machado – Quando A Lua Voltar A Passar Si...
