A bit over month to go before Stefano de Martino will reveal the 23 Big artists for the 77th Sanremo festival to be held next 16-20 February with the special Eurovision selection show to be held on 19. Stefano De Martino will be first new Artistic director after five years of Carlo Conti, five years of Amadesu and two odd editions in between by Claudio Baglioni.
De Martino is of different generation at 37 than the three others (65-75 years) but the rumored artist list seems pretty much same as every year. Quite a few rappers included but it's clear they all won't make it, it's been the same the past years. It'll be interesting to see how much different the final list will be from this rumored and speculated one published by All Music Italia (and some others). Another thing to look forward and to pay attention is the more focused Eurovision link. I still think the special Eurovision night is not needed and eventually may only end up harming Italy's results in the competition in the long run. Italy has featured very well with Sanremo winners, better than any other country the past decade, why change it? The ideal would of course be the one song would win both Sanremo and the Eurovision ticket. We will see.
So, we have
Alfa, Angelica Bove, California, Centomilacarie, Coez, Emma, Emma Nolde, Faccianuvola and Fred De Palma. Alfa has scored a string of hits while Angelica came second this year in Newcomers and launched her career. California is ex-Coma_Cose going solo now. Centomilacarie was Spotify Radar's emerging artist 2024 and year later performed at the 1st of May megaconcert along with the Big names. Coez and Fred De Palma are familiar names, Emma Nolde has been listed for several years already while Emma is of course Emma of ESC 2014. Faccianuvola has released two albums so far.
All familiar names in this gruppo except Naska. He's been around over twon years moving from rap scene to punk pop rock with three albums so far and big live experiences. Geolier and Nek already places second and the big surprise here is Marco Mengoni - would he return so soon again? Does he need it? Absolutely not. But this blogger is here all for his 3rd Eurovision and finally taking the trophy he deserves.
Rocco Hunt & Clementino, Sarah Toscano, Settembre, Tamango, Tananai, Tedua, The Kolors, Venerus, Nicolo Filippucci. De Martino comes from Naples so certainly there will be Napoletan artists present, like Rocco Hunt and Clementino. All familiar names here, too, except Tamango and Venerus who was heavily tipped already last year. Tamango is apparently a collective of 40 persons from Torino. Maybe. I have no idea. Flippucci has dropped from the list published but was heavily tipped previously, now it looks like his runner up Angelica has made the cut instead.....
These are names circulated previously and in other lists. Noemi, Tropico, Ariete and Frah already familiar, the others I have no idea.
The Big ones rumores, speculated and absent from that list. And all very much Eurovision friendly. Will De Martino cut them out even if they are willing to do it? Arisa for sure, apparently she's got a duet with Mr.Rain. Ferro might need a boost for his career both at home and abraod, Angelina may be the one less interested here. Then we have Elodie and Mahmood - both made for Eurovision, what if they did it together?
