ITALY AT THE EUROVISION: SERGIO ENDRIGO - MARIANNE (1968)

Italy took its well deserved third victory - finally! - at the Eurovision song contest 2021. Over the years several other Italian entries would have been worthy winners. In this series I will go through all of them from the worst ranking to the win ners. Sergio Endrigo (1933-2005) won Sanremo 1968 with Canzone per te (with Roberto Carlos ) but went to Eurovision with Marianne . He placed only 10th out of 17, but for example the runner up Cliff Richard made his own version of Marianne a bit later.  Endrigo surely left his mark in the Italian (and Latin America) music business with songs like Io che amo solo te and beforementioned Canzone per te and his songs are still today often covered by other big names. He did nine Sanremos, placing first, second and third among others, recorded 23 studio albums and countless compilations, over 70 singles and one soundtrack and starred in a couple of films. ESC 2015 ITALY: IL VOLO RELEASE NEW VIDEO - CANZONE PER TE

Il Volo has released today the follow up single to their Sanremo winner and Eurovision 2015 entry Grande amore . It's off their Sanremo grande amore EP and the winning song of Sanremo 1968, Canzone per te by Sergio Endrigo and Roberto Carlos. Fab!

#SANREMO 2014: MARCO MENGONI OPENED THE 4TH NIGHT WITH IO CHE AMO SOLO TE

The Sanremo festival's fourth night opened with Marco Mengon i who entered the stage and gave a splendid performance of Sergio Endrigo 's Io che amo solo te . Right after enters Fazio and they have a chat about his success in Spain this very moment and Mengoni thanked for this wonderful year he has had after winning Sanremo last year, and he also thanked Luigi Tenco's family. Last year he sung Tenco's Ciao amore ciao , and convinced us all and cemented his victory. The evening continues with all the Big singers singing Italian classics of the singer-songwriter scene.
