ITALY: RE-ENTER LAURA PAUSINI AS HOST, AND MORE GRUMPY OLD MEN AS GUESTS

After the artists have been revealed in both Big ad Newcomes categories the rumor mill turns its attention to the hosts next to Claudio Baglioni, and the superguests. The names of Francesco De Gregori (66), Gianni Morandi (73)  and Renato Zero (67) seem rather certain, as well as the trio Nek (46), Max Pezzali (50) and Francesco Renga (49) - giving you more "grumpy old men" for your viewing and hearing pleasure.  As for the hosts Michelle Hunziker and Luca Argentero seem to be taken for sure, and now - like almost every year recently - emerges the name of Laura Pausini . If she can hold her own succesful prime time show, a few nights in Sanremo would be a piece of cake and she can do it so let's hope it is true! If Carlo Conti did his most to make Sanremo younger and hip again, Baglioni seems to be bringing back all the old glories but doing so, will he lose the young audiences again? Does quality and real music reign over disposable music and firewor...

ITALY: MICHELLE HUNZIKER TO HOST WITH ARGENTERO? OR BOVA?

While we still wait for the list of artists taking part in the next Sanremo festival, due before Christmas - and the possible next nanes for Eurovision for Italy - also the rumor mill for the future hosts is heating up. The rumors are very strong Claudio Baglioni will have on his side none other than Swiss showgirl Michelle Hunziker (and ex-Mrs Ramazzotti) and not forgetting the other side of the audience, actors Raoul Bova and Luca Argentero seem to be the strongest contenders for co-host, Argentero a bit stronger than Bova as he seems to be free from other jobs around February. Hunziker has already hosted Sanremo once, in 2007 in the era of Pippo Baudo. She's done a lot of television, some movies, dubbing and even recorded an album, and is wellknown also in German speaking Europe. If Italy would win and host Eurovision, I suppose she'd be high on the list of possible hostesses at Rai. Argentero made himself known in Big Brother, third season ending third. He...

ITALY: PAUSINI SAYS NO, NEW NAMES EMERGE AS CO-HOSTS

It seems Laura Pausini has had to say "No" to Sanremo hosting again just like the past two years. That woman is just too busy touring the world! As soon as the news broke and her "certaintity" is gone in the rumour mill Italian press has gone wild reporting other ideas Carlo Conti may or may not have in mind. The most interesting and surprising one is that of Barbara D'Urso , leading lady in the competing Mediaset channels. That would be a wise move (and it wouldn't be the first time this tactic has been used) attracting her fans to Raiuno as well. This blogger approves, she's funny and professional. The other names include Miriam Leone , a web celebrity and a celebrity girlfriend (Fedez's). Chiara Ferragni , an actress both on silverscreen and television and another actress Sveva Alviti . She played Dalida in the movie about her life so maybe there would a Dalida tribute in Teatro Ariston as well? Last year Conti brought along also somet...

Buon Ferragosto - with Sanremo gossip!

Buon Ferragosto a tutti i miei lettori italiani! Spero che passate tutti una giornata bellissima di sole e di caldo - entrambe sembrano di mancare in Finlandia oggi dove Ferragosto non esiste - anzi sono cominciate le scuole questa settimana! What is the better way to spend Ferragosto at the beach and gossiping about Sanremo, the usual past time for Italians this time of the year for some weird reason as it is still 6 months away! Not so much about the singers yet - even if some rumors about them are floating around as well - but the all important presenters. Anyone who has watched Sanremo knows the presenters spent much more time on screen that all the singers put together. Anyways, while waiting for the official announcement it looks like Antonella Clerici is a sure thing for the 2010 edition. She should have by her side Luca Argentero and three actors one for each evening: Christian De Sica, Gigi Proietti and Lando Buzzanca. Oh well, could be worse I guess! Antonella rulez!
