EUROVISION 2019: FIRST REHEARSAL FOR ITALY, UK AND GERMANY

Italy - Mahmood - Soldi **** Well, can't say much about this short clip, and apparently he's still not totally recovered from his illness earlier this week. He has his lyrics projected in the backdrop and three dancers interpreting the drama as well. Need to wait and see more but now I'm cautiously hopeful.... Did you check out the new versions of Soldi with Finnish and Spanish twist?   United Kingdom - Michael Rice - Bigger than us ** To be honest not very impressed. But then again I didn't see much, and what I heard sounded a bit like Michael all of sudden had imitated Mahmood.... It looks like ve have another revival of good old Eurovision backing singers swinging to the left and to the right..... Germany - S!sters - Sister * Again inspiring words. Photos. Multiple faces we already have with Russia and North Macedonia, Hungary and who knows who else I don't know yet. The blonde wig is worse than Bilal's... I can't find much nice ...

EUROVISION 2019 DARE TO REVIEW 1: CROATIA, MOLDOVA, GERMANY, GEORGIA

Time to kick off the Eurovision 2019 reviews based on my own taste and thoughts. The main criteria is Would I like to listen to this outside the Bubble? Will I ever listen to this post-May? Does it make me feel anything? Things will certainly change once the rehearsals starts what comes to the ideas how well or bad they will do, but more of that later. Let's start with my current bottom-4: Croatia - Roko - My dream ** "I dream of love You dream of love Angels of God We all dream of love" Roko Blažević (19) sings reasonable well but it's all so old fahioned and kitch it's almost painful. And therefor almost good. If sung entirely in Croatian this song would have a reason to exist. On the other hand a similiar kitch took his Talent of Croatia coach Jacques Houdek to the final top-8 in 2017, so this could be a shock qualifier, but I doubt it... yet I'd just giggle it away not bing surprised at all! I just hope they drop those wings, that's so la...

GERMANY: S!STERS BRING SISTER TO TEL AVIV

Germany's much anticipated national final didn't quite deliver, did it? Good looking show and staging but they forgot the main thing: the songs. Typical songwriting camp products: forgettable, standards, "nice" but lacking all originality and soul. And then strangely thee song added to the line up later, put last to perform  that no one in thee fandom even noticed beforehand wins.... Just saying. Ok, kidding. My honest opinion is it's simply dead boring and screams a song that will finish 25th in May.... But what do I know? After all I didn't really like any of them.... S!sters are Carlotta Truman (20), already experience as kid star in Das Supertaleent 2009 and The Voice Kids 2014, and Laurita Spinelli (27), winner of Kiddy Talent 2002 and Eurovision winner Lena's backing singer. 1. S!sters - Sister (panel 6+jury 12 + televote 12) 30 2. Makeda - The day I loved you most (10 + 10 + 6) 26 3. Lilly Among Clouds - Surprise (8 + 7 + 10) 25 4. Aly...

#ESC 2014 RUSSIA: TOLMACHEVY SISTERS - SHINE

Russia was the last one to reveal their entry and in the current political situation one can only wonder how and if it will effect the outcome. The Tolmachevy sisters took the ungrateful job and their song Shine is penned by the usual names who are willing to enter whichever country takes them every year. The twin sisters Anastasiya and Maria have already won the Junior Eurovision song contest in 2006 and now at the age of 17 give it a try among the adults. They have performed in a few high scale productions (like Eurovision 2009 in Moscow) as guests but as for recording songs and having hits they are totally unknown. Robert : After all the political turmoil of recent weeks around Russia, the Russian entry, to most, is the song to dislike but I must admit I like it very much. Whenever it passes by on my ipod, it catches my attention and i want to turn up the volume. Since Eurovision is bringing people together and that the message is to keep politics out of the contest, the Tolmac...
