Life after Helsinki 2007 Eurovision

So, Burgas it is. Ebu and BNT won over the power of Sofia who insisted on hosting the show in the capital due some political stuff if I understood right, and that caused the delay in declaring the chosen city by almost two weeks or so. We will have a beach Eurovision again by the Black Sea and one of the most southern ones. The legendary Sunny beach is there nearby and Greece and Turkey's Istanbul are only a day trip away. The Arena Burgas will host the semi-finals on May 11 and 13, and the grand final on May 15, 2027, just before it celebrates its fourth birthday being opened on May 18, 2023. It's maximum capacity is 15.000 for the concerts but obviously an Eurovision song contest like show will have less seating space due to the big stage etc. Maybe next May will change its image to that of a triumph instead of its current status as a symbol of corruption in Bulgaria due to its delays and failed budgets during its construction that took over eight years..... At the day of ann...

Lisbon it is. MEO Arena it is. And the dates are a week later than speculated yesterday and just like this blogger doubted in my previous post . Lisbon, one of the oldest cities in Europe in the West-south corner of Europe completes the Eurovision map after the contest has been held in Helsinki and Athens and Jerusalem, as well as Oslo. Now we need Reykjavik to complete the puzzle. May 12 has already three previous Eurovision finals: 2001, 2007 and 2009.

First news from the Italian riviera of flowers. The 67th Sanremo festival will take place on February 7 to 11, 2017 and the host will be for the third year in a row Carlo Conti, hoping to triple his success with the ratings and praise. Maybe he will be even third time lucky and make his dream of having Laura Pausini as his co-hostess true? Time will tell. Anyways, by now she has also proved she can carry a live tv show, be a hostess, comedienne and singer all at once after her success with Laura & Paola show on Raiuno with Paola Cortellesi. In 2016 he got her only as a guest....  For the rest it seems there won't me any major changes in the formet. Area Sanremo has already started the selection for the two newcomers that will reach the stage of Teatro Ariston, and the rest will come in due time. Also, if and how Sanremo will once again give us the Italian entry for the 2017 Eurovision song contest in Ukraine. This year the winners Stadio opten out in favor of the runner up...

The preparations for the 2017 Eurovision song contest in Ukraine seem to be facing some major problems to start with. First NTU wanted to change the previsional dates a week earlier, because May 18 is the Day of Remembrance for the victims of Crimean Tatar genocide, but the dates proposed don't go well with EBU as they are clashing with some major sports events, namely the Champions League semifinal matches. EBU doesn't want to lose viewers, which is very much understandable. This blogger remembers with horror when back in the day the Eurovision final and the World Championship final in Ice Hockey used to clash and with the household of one TV only there was always such a fight over it with ice hockey crazed brother and father.... Never again! But it's not only the dates that are causing some head scraching in Ukraine, as apparently they don't have a suitable venue that would fill all the requirements by EBU either, as stated by the Minister of Culture Yevhen Nys...
