Life after Helsinki 2007 Eurovision

Amir has teamed up with American OneRepubic for their French version of No vacancy , who already have released the Spanish one with Colombian singer Sebastian Yatra . Amir fits in like a glove and there's no reason to believe this wouldn't become a huge summer hit...... Dansons!

Pictured is the national flower of France, iris Once the Eurovision superpower France has been struggling big time in the 2000's culminating in the the last place in 2014 and second to last in 2015. It was a time for a total makeover and in 2016 they did it. Amir was chosen internally, scored 6th place in the final and became one of the biggest hits of the year in France, and in Eurovision general. His success changed apparently also the French public's interest and if it works, don't change it. Stick to Amir's inner circle:   Requiem is   written by Nazim Khaled. Just like Amir's J'ai cherchè .  Alma or Alexandra Maquet (28) is a singer-songwriter. She started with music already as a child and has lived in both Miami and Brazil. She started releasing her own songs few years ago and slowly made her way to television and touring with Amir among other things.  Requiem is her third official single since 2014, and her debut album will be released shortly...

Last year Amir took France back to Eurovision success and became himself one of the most succesful artists in France in 2016 with his hit album and Eurovision track J'ai cherché and follow up single On direit . The album also includes Oasis . Now it's time to hit another success with the title track of the album, Au coeur de moi . The video gives plenty of images if you happen to have a foot fetish. It's no secret last year's French participant Amir - who brought France back to success after an eternity - and this year's Alma are friends and have been working together since forever. Time will tell if she will better Amir's 6th place. And now they deliver us a lovely acoustic version of this year's entry Requiem . S'il vous plait.....

Eurovision has brought only good things to Amir (and most likely to French Eurovision as well). Not only did he score one of the biggest hits in the country and also the best placement in the Eurovision for France since 2012 but he also won the Best French act award in the MTV Europe Music awards awhile ago. This week he scored even bigger by winning two NRJ Music awards; for the Francophone Breakhtrough of the year and Song of the year with his Eurovision entry! Congrats!

France took the stage for the first time last night. Amir was in the good mood before the rehearsal and very curious about the stage. No visible signs of pressure of being the main challenger for the victory along with Russia. All eyes were on Amir and did he deliver? Yes, he did. In his signature blue suits and white t-shirt with tennis shoes he charmed the cameras and sung well. But the rest. Simply blue (again!) lit stage, with moon in the floor an planets in the backdrop. I would have never said this but I almost missed those tutu girls now. One can say at least France is not overstaging it as often has happened. Maybe it looks good on telly. Maybe. I hope so. Maybe this is the simple act without gimmicks with just the singer on stage belting it out I was looking for before, the anti-Russia. The general feeling in the bloggerdom seems to be a bit let down. Not Amir but all the rest.
