EUROVISION 2025 DENMARK: LISTEN TO THE ENTRIES

Denmark is trusting its melodi Grand Prix once again to elect its entry for the Eurovision song contest 2025 in Basel. The show returns to Herning on March 1, 2025. The eight finalist were selected among open submissions and revealed on February 8, among them one Eurovision veteran Tim Schou of A Friend in London fame, Eurovision 2011. The voting will be open between February 24 and 28 and again during the final. The top-3 will reach the super-final, both rounds have a 50/50 jury/televote.  Among the songwriters the usual suspects Julie Aagaard, Dino Medanhodzic, Jimmy Thörnfelt, Linnea Deb, Meladie Wehbe among others.  Belo is my usual first time hearing rank.... Mariya Apollonia - I belong to me   *** Tim Schou - Proud   *** Max Ulver - Supernova   ** Hervé Toure - Allez allez   **** Maria Mathea - Air   *** Adel the Second - The unluckiest boy alive   *** Sissal - Hallucination   ** Andreas Kruse - Hear my prayer   ****

EUROVISION - BEST OF THE DECADE: DENMARK

Let's continue the series and kill some time having a look at the last decade and see who were the Top-10 best scoring countries in the Eurovision song contest in the past ten years. The ways to calculate are many and here I have used the simple average placement method (and it's not all so serious). Next up is Denmark at n.o 8. They have been doing constantly pretty well except two non qualification in between compensated by a win and additional three top-10 finishes in this decade. Anti Social Media is the one I hardly remember at all to be honest.... but I do remember Tim Schou's shirt all too well! And no one seems to like Soldiers of love , I do. Whereas Where I am .... not so much! 2011 A Friend in London - New tomorrow - 5th *** 2012 Soluna Samay - Shoud've known better - 23rd *** 2013 Emmelie De Forest - Only teardrops - WINNER ***** 2014 Basim - Cliché love song - 9th *** 2015 Anti Social Media - The way you are - NQ (13th in semi-final) ...

ETHNIC EUROSOUNDS FROM ARMENIA AND DENMARK: BASIM, SIRUSHO, IVETA AND TIM SCHOU

The all Danish boy of Cliche love song Basim sounds completely different in his latest  Comme Ci Comme Ça ft. Gilli going full front to his Moroccan roots. It paid off, it's already #2 hit in Denmark  Armenian Sirusho 's latest Huh-hah is also filled with exotic sounds. The video also takes full advantage of the rich Armenian culture and looks like ... well, Eurovision promo video, doesn't it? It even clocks just over 3 minutes..... Nearly ten years have passed from her Eurovision adventure but she keeps going strong releasing hit singles and picking up awards on annual basis. Maybe a comeback to the contest would be an idea? Another Armenian diva Iveta Mukuchyan has released  Depi Nor Irakanutyun , aka Towards a new reality she wrote herself and it comes with a fancy futuristic video. Quite interesting and catchy, in the same way her Eurovision entry was but less dramatic. Another Danish boy to close this video post, with a link to Africa as ...

TIM SCHOU AND HIS NAKED GRAVITY

Tim Schou has a pretty good solo career going since he left his friends in London. He's travelling the world and relesing songs and videos. The latest one is a great track and comes with a steamy video that kinda takes away from the song really. But who's complaining. If you got it, flaunt it. Enjoy the video below. This post coming after the other Dane, Rasmus Seebach as wishlist for Eurovision. To think about it, Tim would do nicely, too. Maybe he should give it another go?

TIM SCHOU IS NAKED. AND MAN OF HIS WORDS

Just when you thought those Ice Bucket challenge videos had disappeared from Facebook and other social medias here comes one more from a friend in London, or Denmark really. Tim Schou. A naked one even. Let him explain himself why in this video .

TIM SCHOU BRINGS SUPERNOVA TO LONDON

Tim Schou was the front man of A friend in London , the Danish band that sung in Eurovision 2011 New tomorrow finishing 5th. Since then the band released their debut album and split while Tim went on to musicals ( Little Mermaid and Hair ) and other things, like doing diving jumps on TV. This year he was hosting the EuroClub in Copenhagen and won over some new fans while doing a great job and released his first solo effort, Supernova . On January 14, 2015 he will play The Garage in London and only 150 tickets are available here . After this special gig he's off to a real UK tour with dates in Birmingham, Liverpool and Glasgow apparently.

ESC 2011 that could've been 29: Denmark

Denmark continued its success in Eurovision finals with A Friend in London's A new tomorrow which I always found rather boring anthem. Runner up Anna Noa's Sleepless sounds so much fresher. And I think she would have done as well in Germany and I would have been much happier blogger...

ESC 2011 DusselDay 8: Belarus, Latvia, Denmark and Ireland

Belarus looks on stage like they were hosting a quiz sgow with their huge microphone stands. I won't comment the song or Anastasya's vocal capacities for obvious reasons. No final. With a different singer and lyrics this could be rather nice though. After three poor entries (for me) finally something I like, Latvia . The guys of Musiqq are also in their casual wear today and the performance is a solid good one. They start sitting on stools their backs to the audience and turn around when the chorus kicks in. The rapper guy gets up when it's time to rap a bit and the singer guy has a great voice if a little raspy today after last night's party?. It's groovy, poppy and catchy. I want to believe this qualifies, even if no one else seems to think so... Time will tell. I like it! After Latvia another popular dislike of mine, Denmark . Like Romania more I hear this less I like, but then the televoters hear this for the first or second time and are fooled. Shame. The onl...

ESC 2011 DusselDay 4: Denmark

Nothing to write home about this. It has been seen and heard about a zillion times before, sung by different people and different lyrics and it's a bit annoying really. But if Denmark did well with that piece of crap they had last year maybe they will do it again. What do I know?  Here are the videos: Official , AKOE Escdaily

Eurovision 2011 videos, vol.13

Lithuania - Evelina Sašenko - C'est ma vie * For me this is a total yawn. Nothing wrong with it I guess. Just a song heard about a zillion times, sung by a voice heard a million times with corny lyrics with some French thrown in. And Céline Dion or Lara Fabian she is not. No merci! Qualifier: No way.   Israel - Dana International - Ding dong ***** Ok, I admit. This song's nothing special really, nor is she a good singer. But it works as a harmless pop song. It has quiet melancholy in it Dana potreys very well. It is catchy. A bit annoying, too, which is good in a competition like this. Yet I wouldn't be surprised if she didn't even make the final as the news she's a trans have worn out about 12 years ago. And those who are too young to remember 1998 just don't care anymore. Some have criticized the backing ladies, I think they are fabulous in their choreography - why should they all move in unison? Qualifier: I hope so.  Denmark - A friend in London - New tom...

Meet the SuperSaturday's winners

UKRAINE Mika Newton (25) won an bit surprisingly the Ukrainian final beating Pridhenko, Zlata and Jamala amongst others. She has been singing since she was 9 and released her first album back in 2005 with her band. Her song Angely has been translated into English for the occasion. This didn't convince we with the first impact but it's not bad. MOLDOVA Zdob si Zdub returns to Eurovision after 5 years. In 2005 they were the country's first represant and with a little help of their granny took the sixth place with Boonika bate toba . This time their song is So lucky and instead of a granny they have funny hats. They're together since 1994 and have released nine albums so far. In some wicked way I like this a little like I did like the granny songs, too. A little. SERBIA Nina Danica Radojicic won in Serbia with Čaroban which translates to Magic . She is fairly unknow 21-year-old lead singer of a group called Legal Sex Department. The song is written by Kristina Kov...

A Friend in London for Denmark!

A Friend in London has won the Danish final with New tomorrow . Here is the live performance . It's kind of refreshing Denmark didn't fall to the plastic trap again! I kinda like it even if I would have preferred the runner up Anna Noa's Sleepless .
