Life after Helsinki 2007 Eurovision

Hungary was supposed to have its last elimination heat tonight but instead - after postboning the last week's heat due to the tragic bus accident - this 3rd now is the 2nd one, and the acts of the 2nd one will be having their heat next week, and the semifinals will be both next weekend, Friday & Saturday. Once again the jury will send their top-5 to the semifinals, and then televoters can save an additional entry from the drop outs. Among the participants tonight András Kállay Saunders, who's holding the best Hungarian result (5th in 2014) in the modern times (Friderika Bayer was 4th in 1994. Different times, different contest). Some other familiar names tonight: Adám Szabó is once again very strong, Andi Tóth is not joking either and Zoltan delivers again. Andràs Kállay-Saunders is yet another third time lucky in this years Eurovision with Running . His previous attemps ( I love you 2012, My baby 2013) made him known and last year he was already a runner up with #1 hit in Hungary with his entry. He's a New York born son of an American soul singer and a Hungarian model. His father started from Detroit and planted the Motown sound to his son, something this blogger has loved already for years. In 2011 András moved to Hungary to be close to his ill granny, saw the ad for the local Idols like talent show and the rest is history! Previous years, there were many more good quality songs to be found to my taste and Kedvesem of last year was an absolute topper for me. Hungary has had a roller coaster ride in Eurovision. They took part already in 1993 but didn't make it past the qualification round and therefor only 1994 they were there for real and gained a very grand debut: Friderika Bayer scored 12 from the three first countries to vote but then slipped to respectable 4th place. The year after a cold shower: second to last and relegation. They were back in 1997 and good 12th place and the year after again to the bottom and it took until Kiev 2005 that they dared to return. NOX was considered a favourite but in the end got only 12th place and Hungary stayed home again for a year. They returned to Helsinki 2007 and Magdi Ruzsa won every possible critics award, charmed the fans and scored a very respectable 9th place.
