Life after Helsinki 2007 Eurovision

The best song won in the end, Andrius Pojavis with Something (even if it reminds pretty much of  Highest Heights at parts). The other acts that made the super final, Gerei Gerai & Miss Sheep and Girmanté Vaitkuté were also on the better side of this rather mediocre final. Not sure about the look and performance, but the winning song is quite pleasant. So to speak.... Actually I do like it a lot! And what's his Italian connection?

Tonight the Eurovision 2012 season starts for real when we will have the first national final.   Die grosse Entscheidungsshow – Eurovision Song Contest 2012 will be aired live on SF1 at 20:05 CET from Bodensee Arena in Kreuzlingen. The line up is pretty solid (even if someof my favourites didn't make it) and it's hard to predict the outcome. I guess the live performance and the stage presense is crucial once again. Three songs in French. Sosofluo and Ze Flying Zezettes Orchestra both follow nicely Anna Rossinelli's acoustic sound while Eurovision legend Lys Assia goes totally nostalgic. Canadian Katherine St-Laurent sings bits in French in her classic Eurovision ballad. One song in Italian. Chiara Dubey is sweet and fragile with her acoustic song. Flirting with Italian are I Quattro with boombastic tenor pop heard about zillion times before - and most of them better. The Swiss band that did Moscow 2009 with Highest heights for Switzerland and surprisingly didn't qualify for the final releases its first greatest hits Only forever on November 13. It features 18 singles plus 2 new songs, including the new single Shine . Listen to the new great songs here .

As the trend has been the past few years the Eurovision stars and winners are also nominated in the MTV Europe Music Awards in various countries. Previous winner Helena Paparizou is running for the best Greek act, and another previous winner Dima Bilan is after his 5th consegutive win as the best Russian act but faces the competition of national finalist Sergey Lazarev . Kenan Dogulu who came 4th in Helsinki 2007 for Turkey is nominated for the best Turkish act and finally Lovebugs that didn't bite so well in Moscow 2009 is looking for a revenge as a possible best Swiss act. Vote in respective websites. The 2009 MTV Music awards takes place in Berlin on November 5, 2009.

It has now been confirmed, as rumoured for some time already, that Lovebugs will perform the title track from their latest album, The highest heights , in Moscow 2009 for Switzerland. The news have been confirmed today: Lovebugs will indeed represant Switzerland in Moscow!

Today's rumour on internet is Lovebugs has been selected for Switzerland. That would be nicely in line with the previously announced names, namely big is better. Lovebugs has been around for 15 years now, will release their 11th album next week and 3 of their albums have been chart toppers in Switzerland. They have scored hits also abroad, like Avalon in duet with Lene Marlin. I must say I didn't know them beforehand but a quick tour in YouTube gave me thumnbs up for them!
