Tonight the Eurovision 2012 season starts for real when we will have the first national final. Die grosse Entscheidungsshow – Eurovision Song Contest 2012 will be aired live on SF1 at 20:05 CET from Bodensee Arena in Kreuzlingen. The line up is pretty solid (even if someof my favourites didn't make it) and it's hard to predict the outcome. I guess the live performance and the stage presense is crucial once again.
Three songs in French. Sosofluo and Ze Flying Zezettes Orchestra both follow nicely Anna Rossinelli's acoustic sound while Eurovision legend Lys Assia goes totally nostalgic. Canadian Katherine St-Laurent sings bits in French in her classic Eurovision ballad.
One song in Italian. Chiara Dubey is sweet and fragile with her acoustic song. Flirting with Italian are I Quattro with boombastic tenor pop heard about zillion times before - and most of them better. (I would have preferred this tenor pop in the line up)
Patric Scott & Fabienne Louves offer classic Eurovision duet (but there was a much better duet in the running that didn't make it, this one) while Atomic Angels offer the most modern pop song (very much in genre of American Ultra Nate who didn't qualify surprisingly) How it works live on stage remains to be seen though. Emel brings in some ethnic sounds with a lot of la, la, las that Guillermo Sorya follows with a lot of baby, baby, babys. What we have left is the rock-pop department with Ivo, Macy and Sinplus. My favourite is Sinplus but it reminds me a lot of Lovebugs that I also liked but it didn't go that well, did it? And last but not least there's Jeger that is more Egon Egemann than Alexander Rybak.
All this said I have no idea who will charm the Swiss televoters but if it is Sinplus, Katherine, Atomic Angels or Guillermo I will be rather pleased. Or Chiara, Patric & Fabienne or Ivo. Even Sosofluo or Ze Flying Zezettes will do. And I wouldn't be surprised if Lys actually wins... Oh, I mentioned everyone but Emel, Jeger and I Quattro. To sum it up: anyone but I Quattro will do! But then Switzerland won't be necessarily amongst my favourites come May 2012.
