Life after Helsinki 2007 Eurovision

Eurovision collaborations are always happening - sometimes after years as you can see from the previous post, sometimes right away and among the artists that met during the Eurovision weeks. Already back in may it was revealed Austria's Conchita Wurst and Spain's Ruth Lorenzo hit it off and were planning a duet but here comes maybe a little bit more surprising one: Finland's Softengine and Greece's Freaky Fortune. First of all the Greek guys have remixes Softengine's Yellow House that is yet to be released but the ead singer Topi Latukka is also working with Nick Raptakis and Teofilos Pouzbouris on another track, maybe to be included on Freaky Fortune's next album. Long live Eurovison and its collaborations!

Hopes are Rising up when the Grek boys show some support to San Marino, too. Good luck Greece!

Greece is here after all with the new broadcaster Nerit after ERT was closed down. And they come with a young group that shot to fame thanks to celebrity blogger Perez Hilton in 2011 and a Katy Perry cover . A few hit singles later Nikolas Raptakis (23) and Theofilos Pouzbouris (23) have teamed up with Jamaican-German Shane Schuller aka RiskyKidd (19) who's been in Greece since 2010. The Greeks are going to Rise up after all. Robert: Rise up was definitely the best song of the four songs in the Greek National final. However, this does not mean that I'm very impressed with the Greek entry this year. It will most probably reach the final but I would not regret it if they don't. I like the guys in the band though and think they are talented but that is more visible in their medley of different Eurovision winners. Hopefully, they will put that as a track on their next album. I must admit I never really cared so much of Freaky Fortune and their RiskyKidd. But this fantastic Eurovision medley changed it all. After hearing this, seeing them perform it I want to like them! Can I say their likability did #RiseUp like 200%? Enjoy this dose of fabulousness here . Running scared never sounded this good.....

For real, vol 2 or Rise up has won the Greek selection, performed by Freaky Fortune feat. RiskyKidd. Not my favorite in the final but oh well, it could be also worse. And they will be in Top-10 again but that doesn't surprise anyone anymore. The best part of the show was however the old stars Katy Garbi, Elbida, Sofia Vossu and others performing their remixed entries with guest vocalists. Each was a lot better than any of the these four songs in competition really.... Freaky Fortune feat. Greece will select its entry tonight. Four songs in the running. Freaky Fortune seems to the favorite. It makes me think of washed down Athena and For real for some reason. The there's Kylie-lite Josephine with a song that goes nowhere nor is very funky and certainly no sign of stars colliding. Krystallia brings in the drama and beautiful Greek language. The most interesting song of the lot no doubt. And therefor the best one. Makes me think of those days Greece sent quality songs like in 1992-93. Kostas was the pre-contest favorite but is losing ground. The song recalls last year's entry (same writer) and strangely also the beforementioned For real . Somehow it's not him. Just stroll in the beautiful beach singing some lovely ballads, that comes more natural for you, Kostas. The MAD Show starts at 21.00 CET here .     Freaky Fortune feat. This morning the Greek entries were published. The Greek final will take place on March 11, 2014. Not very surprising choice of songs. Nicely flavored with Greek influences here and there, and most of all two songs take a hint of last year's Alcohol is free, only watered down. Below the songs in the order I ranked them with the first listening.... Also Greece has announced their four candidates for Eurovision 2014: Krystalia, Jospehine, Freaky Fortune and most of all Kostas Martakis, already a national final participant and a name thrown in every year ever since, will he make it to Copenhagen finally? The Greek final will be propably on March 4, but hasn't yet been confirmed.
