Life after Helsinki 2007 Eurovision

The annual fan based voting for the best - at the very moment - Eurovision song contest entries is over for another year and with the usual ending on top and a few surprises along the way but let's not talk about that. Let's talk about the songs that scored one point. In short. One person thought that particular song was the tenth best song ever.  About 40 songs got that score and I have picked some of them for your entertainment here. Maybe they should have earned a bit more love?  Italy 1965 Bobby Solo - Se piangi, se ridi Switzerland 1978 Carole Vinci - Vivre 1971 United Kingdom Clodagn Rogers - Jack in the box Lithuania 2012 Donny Montell - Love is blind Finland 1961 Laila Kinnunen - Valoa ikkunassa Austria 1983 Westend - Hurricane Yogoslavia 1966 Berta Ambroz - Brez besed Turkey 1981 Modern Folk Trio & Aysegul - Dömne dolap Belgium 1966 Tonia - Un peu de poivre, un peu de sel Netherlands 1982 Bill van Dijk - Jij en ik France 1965 Guy Marcel - N'avoue jamais Switzer...

Tooji is experiencing some VR glasses ByeAlex & emoji Donny & boys Guy's got a new single. Bloodstone .  Gabbani is waiting for the release of Magellano special edition Are you? Dami Im's happy face in Telethon. Glad to help! Marija is thinking...... ... as is Paula. Happy thoughts? Hmmm... Måns is also thoughtful Piero is in Bologna. For a change Ivi loves nature Have a Manel and a Coke Iveta enjoys Dubai ... and Sergey Rome And Poli is this week's covergirl. How was your week?

Besides travelling for gigs and stuff, Eurovision artists have also been to the beach. Like Douwe Bob in Dead Sea in Israel And Amir, having some relax before releasing his second album And Krista Siegfrids. In oh so popular Portugal this year Imri is back in shape and back to beach Donny went kite surfing Polina preferred a calmer situation As did Zlata in Jurmala.  Sebalter on the other hand.... And what about "calm" around Gabbani.....? But Hovig enjoyed the summer on a solitary beach

Sanna Nielsen is a real Midsummer girl and Aminata don't want to be anything less either... while Emma keeps milking her 21st place with self irony.... and Tooji celebrated his birthday with flowers in his hair. Congrats! Emma is also taking part in #saveIceberg, a dog rescue operation  from the Danish authorities who want to kill him... Read more here Marija just loves her dog but I'm sure she's in it with spirit anyways! Maja Keuc's good cause is food waste. Don't waste your food. Eat it. Share it.  ... and Sebalter bikes for cancer from Lugano to Chur to St. Moritz!  That's a lot of biking! Elsewhere Deen advices to you face creams.... Iveta is a happy covergirl ... and Donny boy is happy for his new shoes.... Socks and sandals? Yeah, I read somewhere it's trendy now.... O tempora o mores!

Lithuania is playing the perfectionist. They found several faults in the staging and shooting after the first rehearsal and apparently they were still not happy. But "they're back in game" says Donny. He can't decide on his outfi either and tries three different jackets. He sings well, he does his douce routine and the jump through smoke, but.... meh. "Nice" is the right word.

Donny is back and he's aiming to win. So he says. His stage is all blue with a lot of lights in the uptempo parts of the song and he's still saving his eventual outfit for the second rehearsal. He's got a trampolin. Donny 2012 did a backflip, Donny 2016 jumps on trampolin.... Oh well... He's got highlights in his hair now though. And some fancy hand choreography.  Vocally he's doing great every repeat. But I suppose winning, or even beating his previous result will be hard.... In the Meet & Greet he tells the rehearsal could have been better, but they're getting there. He also tells he always knew he would be back to Eurovision and knows Kaliopi since 2010 when they met in some festival. Then they did Eurovision 2012, And now 2016. What else was said? Check out the video at the bottom of this post.  In 2012 I was just a kid hoping to be in Eurovision. Now I'm here to win it

Some guypower in this post. LITHUANIA - DONNY MONTELL - I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS NIGHT (Jonas Thander, Beatrice Robertsson) Donatas Montvydas aka Donny Montell is another 2012 returnee. He won the marathon long national selection. And yes, his song is Made in Sweden. Blogilkar: Very nice intro. Then it turns into a rather mediocre radio friendly pop tune saved by Donny's vocals. Maybe a bit too Swedish but... not bad at all. 7 Jack:  Donny returns to the contest with a decent pop song. I'm not really sure how he'll fare in Stockholm. The song is modern and catchy and his live performance in Lithuania's national final was good. 7 Peter:  Ok, a piano entry is a soft spot for me, and it's nice and easy, I like the melody and the buildup. They should have no problem qualifying for the final and I would expect them to do pretty well … definitly the left hand side of the board . 7 Robert: Donny is sexy, adorable and a hunk. Already somepoints for th...

Donatas Montvydas aka Donny Montell has released his second album #BLCK just in time for the Eurovision in Stockholm. This follows his debut back in 2012 and two EPs. Already three promotional singles have been released from it over the past months, and the album is a full back of songs: 18 in total plus a couple of remixes of his entry I've been waiting for this night , songs in both English and Lithuanian. The album has been in the making for the past two years with Swedish, Lithuanian and Spanish producers, and he's been involved in every step of it, including the cover art. That back tattoo took seven hours to make btw. The album will be widely available in Sweden, too. Donny boy has surely matured from that angel faced boy into something else over the past five years or so..... Check out the track list and some songs after the jump.....

Among many glamourous events in the Israel Calling Eurovision promo event in Israel this week also something more earthly happened: the artists planted an Eurovision forest in the Presidential Park in Tel Aviv. Now that's an idea to adopt to every host city from now one to leave a living mark of the event that took place.  On top you can see Finland's Sandhja and Austria's Zoe getting their hands dirty. Donny Montell, Ovidiu Anton, Ivan, Joe and Jake, Eneda Tarifa, Lidia Isac, Freddie, Poli Genova and Sergey Lazarev were also showcasing their gardening skills..... Let those trees grow and propser!
