EUROVISION WINNERS: NEW RELEASES - NEMO VS. JJ

Faith is the past two Eurovision song contest winners Nemo of Switzerland and JJ of Austria both have released their latest efforts almost at the same time fighting for same public for the chart success and attention. Nemo - God's a raver **** Nemo has been around already almost ten years with many EPs and singles released but if we consider his past-Eurovision career God's a raver is the first serious contender to hit big along with his debut album to be released in October 2025. His first release after win was Eurostar that went by without much success and the other songs after that ( Casanova , Unexplainable ) even less so. God's a raver could change his fate being a catchy, groovy, humorous number with somewhat questionable lyrics to stir some attention being the real follow up to The Code . Clearly the best effort since The Code. JJ - Back to forgetting ** JJ releases follow up to his winning entry Wasted love titled Back to forgetting. His winning entry hasn't ...

EUROVISION 2025: ZURICH IS OUT. IT'S BETWEEN BASEL AND GENEVA

As a surprise twist front runner favorite Zurich is out of the race to host Eurovision song contest 2025 and the Swiss team with Ebu announced that Basel and Geneva are the top two bids and of them will get the honor to host the contest in May 2025.  Basel is apparently aiming on St.Jakobshalle that could have been also called Roger Federer Arena to honor the local tennis player but the local council vote blocked that idea. Built in 1976 and completely renovated between 2016-18 adding fro its original 9.000 capacity to 12.400. The complex also has five smaller halls that would nice serve as press center, delegation lounge and all that extra needed for the show under same roof.  The arena has been used mainly for tennis, handball, ice hockey, curling and of course concerts, including Bob Dylan leaving him with life changing experience.  Basel itself is Switzerland's third biggest city by river Rhine with its approx 178.000 inhabitants (541.000 in greater Basel). In multi l...

EUROVISION 2024: THE DAY AFTER.... CRISIS THERAPY NEEDED?

After yesterday's chaos the television broadcast went by without too many hic ups. With booing to Martin Österdahl and Israel. A huge sign of relief when Ukraine passed Israel in the scoreboard. Overpowering jury support to Switzerland that made Croatia's Baby Lasagna even more a Käärijä, part 2. He even got a hero's welcome back party at home just like Käärijä. Meanwhile in Switzerland Geneva and Basel at least have already stepped up to host next year's contest. Apparently Swedish police has let Joost Klein go. But Eurovision song contest is in crisis after all this. It's everywhere, even in the Finnish tv-news as I just watched. Eurovision is broken and needs fixing. Fandom is asking Österdahl and all Reference group to step out and be replaced. Several artists have come out now afterwards that it's been a traumatic experience rather than the best time of their lives and fun.  So many questions open until everything can go on and start getting ready for the n...

EUROVISION 2024: SWITZERLAND WINS WITH NEMO AND THE CODE

All is good that ends good. Israel didn't manage to win the televote being second to Croatia with 323 vs 337. Ukraine was third with 307 and France 4th with 227 and Switzerland 5th with one point behind. But Switzerland totally dominated the jury vote scoring 21 times 12 points and 365 total. France was second with 218 and Croatia 3rd with 210. Only nine countries manages to score 12 from the jury. Besides the 21 by Switzerland France 4 times, Portugal 3 times, Ukraine and Croatia twice and Luxemburg (from Israel), Ireland, Sweden and Cyprus (from Greece) once.  And here is the jury result: Here are the televotes: Croatia  337 Israel  323 Ukraine  307 France  227 Switzerland  226 Ireland  136 Italy  104 Greece  85 Armenia  82 Lithuania  58 Sweden  49 Cyprus  44 Estonia  33 Serbia  32 Finland  31 Latvia  28 Luxemburg  20 Georgia  19 Germany  18 Portugal  13 Slovenia  12 Spain...

EUROVISION 2024 SWITZERLAND: NEMO - THE CODE

As usual Switzerland chose internally among the 420+ entries sent The Code by Nemo, as announced on February 29, 2024. And yes, it's something else for sure from opera to rap to hip pop and pop and even Bond-esque sounds.!  Nemo Mettler (24) is a Swiss non-binary rapper, singer and musician who plays violin, piano and drums. He has released four EPs since 2015 and over 20 singles as solo or featuring. Du in 2017 is his highest charting single yet as #4. In 2017 and 2018 he won several awards as Best Newcomer/talent/Best male act/Best breaking act/Best live act and Du was awarded the Best Hit award.  Here are some Nemo's videos, truly an interesting artist to discover more in the near future. So, what do I think? I must say the first hearing left me rather speechless and I just didn't re-listen it and continued with my life thinking The Code isn't much to think about. Then, slowly, I had an urge to listen it again. And again. And now it's one of my most anticipated...

ESC 2016 ROMANIA: THE FINAL TONIGHT

Romania's Selecţia Naţionala 2016 had its semifinal on Friday sending half the songs home, selected by jury or televoters. Tonight only televoters rule. Let's see how that will shake the outcome. The jury ignored Vanotek & co but televoters had them as their clear favorite out of the drops outs along with the duo Doru & Irina. The jury preferred the Queenish theatrical nonsense fake drama by Ovidiu. They also liked the let's-cash-in-Il-Volo's-success boyband. They just forgot you need a song, too. And voices. Then there's yet another midtempo shouty female ballad. Mihai has copied his act from Swedes, the ih-ih-ih-iih-IIH from himself and stuffed his crotch. Yet there was no connection whatsoever without any close shots. (Of his face I mean.) The duo brings us back in style and time, and mix ballad, opera, dance and evening gown in a hot mess that is after all entertaining and not dull 3 minutes. That's already something! Vanotek is from another pla...
