Life after Helsinki 2007 Eurovision

One of the three countries choosing their entry for Liverpool's Eurovision song contest 2023 is Moldova. ( Read more about it and my review here ). There will be 50/50 televote/jury vote to determinate the winner. Let's see if we will have another returnee if and when one of Pasha Parfeni, Aliona Moon or Sunstroke Project wins. Moldova is next in line to reveal its entries for Eurovision song contest. Out of 60 submissions 33 made the first cut and received a call for a live audition on January 28  where from only ten entries will make the final. Those names are expected to be revealed the same day and you can watch these often hilarious auditions live on www.eurovision.md as usual..... And yes, that Sasha B is back again ..... Among the participants three Eurovision veterans, including Sunstroke Project that holds the best placing in Euroviison for any Moldovan act, 3rd in 2017 with Hey mamma (and 22nd in 2010) and Pasha Parfeni (11th in 2012) and Aliona Moon (11th in 2013) Update: The finalists were announced 28.1. Once again some new sounds from Eurovision's finest over the years.... Consider is already third single off Douwe Bob 's The Shape I'm in album, and also a main theme of a short film Singel 39 . And it's again a nice song from Douwe. I like it. KAAN feat. Snoop Dogg and Eleni Foureira 's Sirens is nothing but a rather unnecessary remake of Eurythmics's classic Sweet dreams . I only wonder.... why? Conchita Wurst keeps dropping videos from the future album and See me now takes the incarnation even further. And back again. Very suggestive video and beautiful atmospheric song, best so far. Violinist Anton Ragoza has left the trio but Sunstroke Project is back with Boomerang . The trademark saxophone is there though. Will it be enough in the long run?

  Belarusian Ivan goes from Eurovision wolves to Aliens in his latest,  Чужая . A midtempo rock song with enough drama to keep you watching the video til the end...... Errr.... what was that? Russian Serebro  from Eurovision 2007 in Helsinki are unstoppable and have released  в космосе or In space, despite being in the middle of recruiting a new member. It's another pop tune in pure Serebro style. Love it. Sunstroke Project that took Moldova to the surprise podium at Eurovision 2017 is back with another saxxy hit, Sun gets down. Maybe they should have released this a month or two earlier to score late summer hit..... In rainy dark Finland this feels like a slap in the face instead...... Ola Salo , who sung for Sweden with The Ark in Helsinki 2007 has went solo ages ago and has released a new single, I call your name . I wonder if he's really calling for the safety word as he seems to be performing in a sexclub where all sort of things are going...

Aminata went fishing while Ivi enjoyed the sunset

Gabbani teases us with a new single and video coming up Loreen got a beard... oh wait, it's Conchita! Emma looked divaish in Venice Film Festival while Claudia has some usual product placement photos and Amir is just being.... well, Amir Imri is all dressed up for a change. Summer must be over Hovig is teasing with some new music and Ivan is considering saying goodbye to the old,  and in with the new kind of music... Markus's got doggy love and Polina sent her son to school. Summer is over Sunstroke Project celebrated birthday and performed in Finland Someone's still got holidays. Tamara in Greece but I just can't sit still and wait for the new Gabbani!

Eurovision is also all about parties and as usual many delegations host their own themed parties and last night was Moldova's turn. Not only did Sunstroke Project act as hosts they also performed and had brought along a lot of Moldovan Eurovision royalty: Aliona Moon, Pasha Parfeny and Olia Tira! Many other artists from Slava to Slavko performed, and others from Demy to Hovig and Kristian came to party and enjoy the company, food and drinks.
