Anja Nissen won the Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2017 with Where I am, that she co-wrote with Angel Tupai and Michael D'Arcy. DR received this year a record breaking 1.115 submission and ten songs were selected to the final. Three songs were televoted to the superfinal where she got 64% of the votes being a clear winner.
Anja Nissen (21) was born and raised in Australia where in 2014 she won the Voice of Australia in will.i.am's team. She released an album and a string of singles but the career didn't really take off. In 2016 she was in Denmark, where her parents are from, and came second in the national final. And then we didn't hear of her until this year's selection that she won. Maybe it's her lucky break?
This song for me is there with Germany, Poland and Serbia: midtempo female pop song that is harmless, forgettable and unoriginal in every way. more of an album track than one with real hit potential. Anja has kinda nice voice, yet a bit too piercing and shouty at times. One of those songs I tend to skip every time. "Nice" 3/10
