ESC 2017 KYIV - DAY 7: DENMARK SECOND REHEARSAL

Anja has changed back to her national final look and dress after the harsh critizism she got for that 70's inspired colorful thing. The backdrop is kinda boring blue (again) with some water bubbles kind of things (again) turning into a bit more colorful spotlight thing in the chorus. Windmachine. She falls on her knees (like so many others thins year). Rain of fire. Smoke. Not very innotative or original, is it? She sings well but I find this song rather standard and a bit boring really. Also on screen a bit too desperate and aggressive maybe? Borderline qualifier for me but I woudn't mind it staying in semis to give place for some more interesting entries in the final. :-)

ESC 2017 KYIV - DAY 3: DENMARK FIRST REHEARSAL

Anja is wearing this season's WTF?! outfit so far. Why am thinking some 70's Charlie's Angels? Anyways, like the Netherlands this is one of the songs that I just can't connect with. The staging and performance doesn't help. The backdrop doesn't seem to add much. It's messy. I found it shouty and her on her knees making it look and sound even more shouty and needy. For me this is a no but I kinda like that outfit in some weird way.....

ESC 2017 REVIEW - DENMARK (30): ANJA NISSEN - WHERE I AM

Pictured is Denmark's national flower marguerite daisy Anja Nissen won the Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2017 with Where I am , that she co-wrote with Angel Tupai and Michael D'Arcy. DR received this year a record breaking 1.115 submission and ten songs were selected to the final. Three songs were televoted to the superfinal where she got 64% of the votes being a clear winner.  Anja Nissen (21) was born and raised in Australia where in 2014 she won the Voice of Australia in will.i.am's team. She released an album and a string of singles but the career didn't really take off. In 2016 she was in Denmark, where her parents are from, and came second in the national final. And then we didn't hear of her until this year's selection that she won. Maybe it's her lucky break? This song for me is there with Germany, Poland and Serbia: midtempo female pop song that is harmless, forgettable and unoriginal in every way. more of an album track than one with real hi...
