EUROVISION 2021: REHEARSAL DAY 1 - LITHUANIA, SLOVENIA, RUSSIA, SWEDEN, AUSTRALIA, NORTH MACEDONIA AND IRELAND

 

After two long years the day is finally here! The feeling is a bit surreal and unreal. But here we are and it's a good feeling. As I am not present I just post the photos and videos (all lovingly taken from eurovision.tv) and comment what I can at this point which is obviously next to nothing for the pure joy of it. 

Lithuania's The Roop seems to stick pretty much to the performance of their national final with the same yellow outfits and choreography with the similar backdrop, too. All adapted to Ahoy Rotterdam's bigger stage of course. Besides the three band members the two dancers they had before as well.

Slovenia's Ana Soklic is on stage alone with her pre-recorded big gospel choir. The familiar white dress is there as is the big voice. The backdrop seems to be quite effective and beautiful.

Russia's Manizha delivers the night's first pyros and wardrobe gimmick and seems to have gained many, many new fans with them. She's got her four backing singers on stage with her and it all seems to be improved version of the national final performance what comes to tricks and backdrop. 

Sweden's Tusse continues the trend of similar but improved national final performances for the big show. Same red suit, same four dancer/backing singers and pretty much the same backdrop. He seems to have also delivered vocally after having had a throat surgery not so long time ago....

Montaigne and the rest of Australia's team are not in Rotterdam but down under due strict Covid-19 travel restrictions and there for didn't rehearse on stage. Meanwhile the technical team rehearsed showing her back up tape instead that will be aired during the semi final one. Fancy clothing and technicolor colors..... hard to say anything more.

Like Slovenia's Ana also North Macedonian Vasil has brought only himself on stage with the pre-recorded gospel choir. Despite the Disney like ballad he gets his disco moment with Dotter like disco ball that is actually his vest that he reveals under his black suit.

Ireland's Lesley Roy is also alone on stage but she's engaged to so complicated camera work and tricks that she managed only two run through in half and hour (all the others managed three full ones) and at this point it's useless I say more as I have not seen how it looks on telly. This one's clearly staged for tv alone. And it seems there's still a lot to do, both staging and vocals.
