Today's already Day 8 in the Eurovision bubble in Rotterdam and it's time for the Big5+host to have their second rehearsal before things slow down in Ahoy before tomorrow's official opening ceremonies and the red carpet that is turquoise this year.
Photos and videos lovingly stolen from eurovision.tv as always.
Italy is in top form despite the Finnish Blind Channel gave them a bottle of local vodka like Koskenkorva yesterday so their plan to get them drunk and mess up the rehearsal bombed. Just kidding. The Italian 70's glamrock androgyne explosion is much more popular than I ever thought they'd be. Last time Italy won when they had one of the rare entries I didn't really care for so is history repeating itself or is it only la gente purtroppo parla, non sa di che cosa parla? Meanwhile Italy has drawn to perform in the second half of the final.
Germany and adorable Jendrik seem to have in the end taken a bit too big a bite as everyone comes out exhausted from these crazy three minutes. A lot is forgiven for friendly smiles and maybe for first impact for most viewers - or the contrary. In this short clip it looks less energetic than it should be in my opinion (I never thought I'd say so but...) but if they turn on the energy levels at maximum in the final they might just get people so hysterical they can't do but vote. We'll see. But I like it no matter what.
Also Germany draw the second half in the final.
The Netherlands is already drawn to place 23 in the final so all these entries will be there for sure. What I see this is a highly and originally choreographed number with a lot of roots and heritage and comes across very likable in this situation. Will I listen to this after contest? Probably not but I enjoy the performance, the staging and his perfect vocals. This could be a jury pleaser than will be somewhere midtable at that point only to have big drop when the televotes come in. But I hope I'm wrong!
