"Siamo fuori di testa, ma diversi da loro"
they wrote in Instagram already in May 2017. The street musicians from Rome have gone a long via X Factor to Sanremo and to Eurovision in a short time.
As I didn't do any artist presentations this year, and to be honest I'm not so familiar with Måneskin, let's do a short biography who they are and what they have been up to in the past few years.
The band is made of lead singer Damiano David (21), Victoria De Angelis (20) in bass, Thomas Raggi (19) in guitar and Ethan Torchio (20) in drums.
Novembre 2015. Damiano asked Victoria to form a band, she brought in her friend and school mate from Monteverde Thomas. Ethan was found after an ad in Facebook. The year after they took part in a competition Pulse - High school band contest and won it.
The same year they had their official concert and usually they were found playing in the streets of Rome, their hometown.
2017. They took part in X Factor when they all were just teenagers and became soon the favorites to win it, however they finish second behind Lorenzo Licitra. Soon after they release their first EP and single Chosen. Both sell double platinum.
January 2018 they appear for the first time in Rai's channels in tv and continue to do so several times over the year. They release their second single Moriró da re. It sells triple platinum. During the summer they appear in various festivals and pick up awards in Wind Music Awards.
September 28 their third single is released, Torno a casa. It goes to number One and sells fives times platinum.
October 2018 they release their debut album Il ballo della vita (triple platinum so far) followed by an European tour.
January 2019 they release single Fear for nobody and in April L'altra dimensione, that becomes their fourth Top-10 hit and sells platinum. Their European tour continues until September when they release Le parole lontane, that sells again platinum.
October 2020 they are back with yet again platinum selling Vent'anni.
December they are announced one of the acts in Sanremo 2021 that they went on to win with Zitti e buoni (double platinum so far) in March 2021.
They release their second album Teatro d'ira, Vol. 1 in March (platinum sold so far)
In May they bring Italy their third Eurovision song contest win with Zitti e buoni. It's the first time since Gigliola Cinquetti's Non ho l'età that the Sanremo winner wins Eurovision, too. The band's odds in Rotterdam exploded once they rehearsed for the first time and they won the public vote easily. Måneskin also win an award for the best lyrics.
A few days after the contest they hit number nine in the Global Spotify charts - apparently a new record for any Italian song - and hit the charts in dozens of countries.
Besides the official singles another 19 songs have made the charts and four of them have sold gold. That includes a featuring on Francesca Michielin's Stato di natura.
