After two disappointing internal choices what comes to success in the Eurovision song contest YLE and UMK are returning to open competition for everyone and no wonder - no one wanted to do UMK the way they were dealing it - but this time they seek help from youthful YleX radio channel, that has been awarded also as the Music Media of the Year. Its music boss Tapio Hakanen will join the team as well. Their aim is to create a new event to unite the whole music branch in the years to come. Good luck with that! Earlier UMK also asked the public how they would like the entrant chosen and 53% of the commentators wanted an open competition back.
