Life after Helsinki 2007 Eurovision

New series start: Let's kill some time having a look at the last decade and see who were the Top-10 best scoring countries in the Eurovision song contest in the past ten years. The ways to calculate are many and here I have used the simple average placement method (and it's not all so serious). Francesca Michielin returns with Vulcano, first new track since her last year's album (where from her Eurovision entry came as well). A step to more upbeat sounds with a lot of V words ahead of a new album! Ira Losco goes OMG in Oh my God featuring also a Maltese rapper Shyli. Like Francesca she's sounding very 80's. And very Ira. In good and in bad.  Sirusho teams with Sebu in Voy Aman - another song filled with summer nostalgia and 80's vibes. It's something very sad about the song. In a good way. Also Tijana Bogićević goes also nostalgic and old fashionably dated in her latest Ti imaš pravo. You were right indeed. Dated in every way maybe but highy enjoyable thanks to her voice that makes the song alive. 

Besides the possible participation of Julia Samoylova for Russia also some other artists are making themselves available for the contest next year. In Greece Stereo Soul, who were considered also this year but lost to Demy in the last minute are putting themselves forward again asking their fans on social medias to support them.  In Serbia it was revealed Tijana Bogicevic was only the fourth option for the broadcaster after Aleksandra Radović, Jelena Tomašević and Ivana Peters. Aleksandra claimed she's too busy (and some suggest she asked too much money as well) but she's kinda open for the idea to do it in 2018 while Jelena said she's not for the time being ready for all that hassle again, and Ivana, who already was asked in 2016 still can't be flying due to health problems. She did write the Serbian entry last year and would be willing to do it again in 2018. It's still only May, this is going to be interesting. And we can't forget Valentina Monet...

Luckily she opens the second semi so maybe somepeople didn't watch the first one and find it new and exciting. The dancer enters in the mid song adding nothing really to the lot. Even Tijana chooses to just ignore him and push him away.  So he decides to roll in the floor and then run backwards. it's not a good sign if ne is more interested in his doings than her.... This wasn't much to start with but it still manages to disappoint.

  Serbia seems to be suffering the same as Finland last year: a great opening number on paper that fails to deliver and instead of getting us to the mood kinda bores us already. Add some questionable vocals and it's a mess. Tijana wasn't wearing her dress yet, and she has a male dancer on stage while the backing vocalists are hidden away somewhere in the backstage (poor souls). A lot of blue and bubbles. Serbia has a lot to do and  change if they wish to qualify....

Following  Slovenian Omar 's and Greek Demy 's example also Serbian Tijana has released a native language version of her entry, only that she has also re-arranged the whole thing and once again it's so much better! As is Malta's Claudia 's Italian version.....

Pictured is Serbia's national fruit plum in absence of a national flower Serbia chose internally Tijana Bogićević, as well as her song In too deep written by international team Borislav Milanov, Joacim Bo Persson, Johan Alkenas and. Lisa Ann-Mari Linder. There's a curious rumour that this song was first picked up by Macedonia, who then have to give it to Serbia and pick up another song for reasons unknown. True or not, it's Macedonia's gain! Tijana Bogićević (35) is one of those singers this year who moves from the Eurovision backing singer (in 2011) to the spotlight. She also tried to get to Eurovision already in 2009 competing in the national final finishing 17th out of 20. She has been around from 2001 as backing and studio singer, and being part in various groups. Now she come to Kyiv all the way from Boston where she now lives. Maybe it will be her big break finally? This is another those midtempo female songs that promise a lot but deliver very lit...

It's time for Serbia to reveal their entry In too deep by Tijana Bogićević. It starts off quite interesting but then sadly nothing much happens and the overal feeling afterwards is it she didn't quite deliver. Then there's the curious rumour about the catfight over this song by Serbia and Macedonia... (or was it the other way around?). Anyways, it's a bit sad all ex-Yogos have dropped all the Slavic characters and are offering standard western pop.... This being a prime example. Not bad, but nothing special either....

Serbia has revealed today it's  Tijana Bogićević (35) for Eurovision 2017 with a song written by Borislav Milanov, Bo Persson, Johan Alkenas and Lisa Ann-Marie Linder who have already written songs like Rise like a phoenix and If love was a crime .... Tijana tried to get to Eurovision already back in 2009 but scored zero points in the semifinal. Two years later she was at Eurovision however, as a backing singer. Then she moved to the USA and now she's back.....
