Life after Helsinki 2007 Eurovision

Something strange is happening in Ukraine. The head of Ukrainian broadcaster NTU has resigned and along with him many other bosses. And for some weird reason that should put end to Vasyl Lazarovich trip to Oslo 2010 as well. Maybe because they are friends? So, now they are apparently organising in a hurry a new national final for the weekend, where Lazarovich is also invited to take part. But the EBU rule says the broadcaster must publish the rules for its national selection by January 31... Well, nobody seems to like I love you but I do. And there's more: actually the French TV has never officially said Jessy Matador will be the one so are we in for a surprise on Saturday after all? :-) Update : Looks like this is the usual Ukrainian drama again, remember last year? Go Vasyl!

Ukrainian televoters and juries (and me) agreed that Vasily Lazarovich will sing I love you... . in Oslo 2010. The jury critizised his English and the orchestration but that can be still worked on. It got 14 points or max from both and I know and Shine of your star came second with 8 points and Adrenalin and Don't wanna lose you got 3 points.

Next Saturday also Ukraine will select its entry for Oslo 2010 and Vasyl Lazarovych will sing all five entries. They are selected from open call and songwriters from Ukraine, Romania (Nikola Karajia), Germany (Brandon Stone), Slovenia (Ziga Pirnat) and Sweden (Claes Andreasson) got their songs through. A mixture of televote and jury 50-50 will pick up the winner. Ukraine has one of the best tracks on Eurovision the past few years: debut with Oleksander 14th, Ruslana 1st, Greenjolly on homeground 19th, Tina Karol nicely 7th, Verka Serduchka in Helsinki 2nd, Ani Lorak again 2nd and Svetlana Loboda 12th. NTU has announced moments ago that Vasily Lazarovich (28) will sing for Ukraine in Oslo 2010. A surprising choise as he has yet to release his debut album and has just a few videos under his name, like Proshay , Svoboda and  Gordy . More ballad here and some dance here . Something in English here and  jazzy stuff here. The man is his own producer and I think he's very promising. There's now an open call for songs for him. Let's see if the Ukrainians will turn this into a megaholabaloo once again on stage as he has the makings for it or will they be a bit more sober?! And it looks like Oslo 2010 will be a very male dominated affair!
