The programme for the five nights of Sanremo festival next week has been released. Fabio Fazio and comedian Luciana Littizzetto are hosting the shows just like last year. Even if the Italian entry is alreeady selected and not coming from this festival this time, I will follow it closely (RAI streaming permetting) and reporting every day what's going on so stay tuned.
Tuesday, February 18:
Seven of the 14 Big will present their two songs. Televote and the accreditated journalists will vote 50-50 one song by each to the final. The guests of the evening are French model and ex-Sanremo hostess Laetitia Casta along with Italian TV-legend and also ex-Sanremo hostess Raffaella Carrá. The eight Newcomers finalists will be also presented.
Wednesday, February 19:
The remaining seven Big will perform their songs and the voting will be like the first night. The first four of the Newcomers will perform as well with the same system of voting. The guests of the evening are Claudio Baglioni, an Italian megastar. His Questo piccolo grande amore has been voted the song of the century in Italy. Also Rufus Wainwright will perform. Another guest is actor Claudio Santamaria.
Thursday, February 20:
The other four newcomers will perform and just like Wednesday, two of them will qualify for the final. The 14 Big will perform their song that qualified and the real contest starts. This night's televoting only counts 25% of the final result. Another Italian legend on stage as guest: Renzo Arbore.
Friday, February 21:
The night dedicated to Sanremo Club, celebrating the Italian singer-songwriters. The Big will perform classics with guest stars:

Saturday, February 22:
The 14 Big will perform again their songs. the voting is a mix of televote and the jury of quality plus the results of the previous evenings. Guest stars are Belgian popstar Stromae and actor Terence Hill.
Also comedian Enrico Brignano, Irish Damien Rice, Italian actress and writer Franca Valeri and british singer-songwriter Cat Stevens will be on stage of Teatro Ariston at some point of the week....
