BLOGILKAR EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW: KRISTA SIEGFRIDS

Krista Siegfrids, the pop explosion in UMK 2013 took time from her busy schedule in Dubai of all places to answer some questions. Is she Eurovision fan? Who took her like a stormwind? What does she think about Loreen? Did girlpower rule over hanky dancing boys? Do want to get ding donged? In that case vote for her in my poll on the right side!

When and how did you hear you have made the cut of the top-12 in UMK 2013?
I was at home when they called me and told me I was one of the 12 finalists. I was REALLY happy to join the competition with my own song Marry Me! I was jumping up and down in the sofa like a happy kid!
What made you to take part in UMK after The Voice?
I wanted people to hear my songs. I have no record deal so it's really hard to get my music out there. UMK was a great opportunity for me to get people to discover me and my music
How did you start writing songs and do you remember your first song you wrote?
I started to write texts and rhymes. I write about stuff that I'm thinking about, like what makes me laugh, what makes me angry, what makes me happy... I remember I sometimes wrote songs when I was really young, like 10 years old or something like that. I started to write, but I never finished them. I didn't have the patience... But my first REAL song that I was actually proud of I wrote when I was 20 years old.
If you were offered a recording deal and rush to make an album, would you have enough material? How do you feel about covers and is there a song or two that you'd like to cover?
I have a lot of songs and I'm ready to make a record. But I have no record deal yet. I hope I'll get one soon! But If I don't get a deal, I'll make the record myself! I have done so much cover gigs that I really would like just to do my own music right now.
If you could work with any musician (living or not), who would it be?
I would like to write songs with Max Martin!!!
An ideal duet partner?
A duet with Michael Jackson would have been cool
Who are your idols, musical influences?
I have SO many idols! I really like strong female artists like Lady Gaga, Pink, Katy Perry, Jessie J, Gwen Stefani, Maja Ivarsson... But I also love 80's rock and all those bands from that era.
Did you watch UMK last year and if so, what did you think?
Yes, I watched it last year and I think it's a great new concept! It's great that they wanna find new young artists and new music.
I think the quality of songs is much better this year, do you agree?
Yes, I think the songs are better this year.
Are you happy how everything is progressing in UMK this year?
Yes, I think it's been a good process this year.
Are you an Eurovision fan and have you followed it? If so, what is your earliest memory?
I love The Eurovision Song Contest!!! I've always been a big fan of it and it has been a dream for me since I was a little kid to be a part of the competition at some point. My earliest memory of me being a hardcore Eurovision fan was when I saw Carola win with "Fångad av en stormvind". Her voice and her show blew me away back then. Haha!
Any Eurovision favourites?
I love Loreen and I think she was absolutely amazing!!!
And the grannies last year?
I think the grannies were cute too Charming in a weird way. Haha!
An Eurovision song you would have wanted to sing first?
Ruslana - Wild dances or Elena Paparizou- My number one would have been cool to do
We just saw this Thursday your first performance to the judges? How did you feel it went? Were you nervous?
It thought it went great. I wasn't so nervous, It was fun to sing my own song. I'm just waiting for the next performance when you get to see my fabulous dancers!
What do you think about their advice and opinions? They seem to think you have it in your pocket already.... Are you going to act on them? What can we except in two weeks time in live gig at Circus?
I was happy about the feedback! They were right about one thing. They thought I should use girls in my show instead of boys. I thought that was a great idea! I'm gonna go with girlpower all the way It will be a great show! Reija Wäre has done a really cool choreography! The dancers and the background singers are fantastic and the clothes too! The number will be colorful and funny
Where were you when Lordi won Eurovision? Did you think one day you would be very close to that stage as well (well, not Athens but Malmö...)
I was celebrating all night long when Lordi won! It was a crazy evening! I still remembered how cool it was when they won. I couldn't believe it! I lived in Vasa back then, the whole town was celebrating!
How will you get your fans to vote for you in UMK? Are you busy in social medias and what plans do you have on that?
I'll do all the promotion I can! I hope people like my song and show so much that they wanna vote. I'm active on facebook, twitter, instagram and I'm also blogging on my website www.kristasiegfrids.com if you wanna know what's up!
Thanks for the interview straight from Dubai, Krista. Would you like to say hi to the readers of Blogilkar?
Hey all fabulous readers! I hope you wanna join Team DiNG DoNG!
Hugs!
Krista

ESC 2016 WISH LIST: MARGARET FOR POLAND

Małgorzata Jamroży aka Margaret has also been tipped for Eurovision and apparently she did turn it down but she'd be perfect. She's got a look and persona you can't unnotice nor forget, she's got hit songs, she has been voted or nominated for everything from Trendy artist to the Hope of the Year, Fashion Icon and Glamour Woman of the year besides the usual best video, song, album, debut..... Oh she's also a fashion designer! She's very clever with social medias and would surely use it to her advantage if selected for Stockholm 2016. Her debut album is titled Add the blonde , do we need to say more? Except it includes mostly Swedish written pop tunes like Tell me how are ya , Wasted , Start a fire and Heartbeat . And of course her debut single and internationally noticed Thank you very much that you can enjoy below with all its anti-textil feel. I think she's Eurovision perfection, she's cheeky and fun, can we have her?

SONGS OF THE YEAR 2015: #5 KRISTA SIEGFRIDS - ON & OFF

Krista Siegfrids is delivering nice pop tunes one after another and this one is particularly catchy and soon you will be singing along..... Hopefully her Melodifestivalen entry will be equally good!

GOODBYE, FAREWELL...

The time has come. After all these years, 5,7 million visits, 12.000 articles I guess the time has come. As much as I love and care for Eurovision it just doesn't feel the same. The Corona years took their toll and the past two years and certain decisions have helped me to mature the idea that next year I will hear the songs for the first time in semi-final just like any so called local.  The bubble has burst. Add the toxicity in social medias and fandom. The arrogant teenagers who saw their first contest somewhere 2017 or even 2021 who think they know it all and only their opinion matters. Did I mention the toxic atmosphere on social medias? I'm too old for that sh*t. It's been a long ride that took me to various Eurovision on spot as a fan and tourist,  as a journalist, as a delegation member. I met some great people, made memories of lifetime. In stressful, sad periods of my life this blog has been my safe place, a place to escape and forget everything else for an hour o

ESC 2016 BELARUS: NAKED WITH WOLVES?

Today's funniest Eurovision related story comes from Belarus. Some sources claim Ivan wants to perform on stage naked and with live wolf or wolves. It surely would be a first on Eurovision stage! We have seen some forgotten underwear over the years, and some cardbox animals though..... Is it time to take things a bit further?  No, according the rules live animals are not allowed, and Eurovision being a family show nudity won't do either. (It seems to be ok to be half naked if you are a dancer though..... )

NO AMOR IN ICELAND FOR ÁSDIS MARIA

In Iceland Söngvakeppni Sjónvarpsins 2014 started as well. Five songs in the running and two were voted to the final: Gréta Mjöll - Eftir eitt lag and Gissur Páll Gissurarson - Von . To be honest I'm not very suprised about the choices even if I was hoping for Ásdís María Viðarsdóttir - Amor to make it. The people of Björk didn't warm up to that enough, sadly. Also Sverrir Bergmann - Dönsum burtu blús and Vignir Snær Vigfússon - Elsku þú are out but that's ok. Or maybe I would have sent Ásdis Maria with Vignir to the final....Oh well. Next week another five songs and two qualifiers.

EUROVISION 2024: BLOGILKAR'S HOME JURY RESULTS REVEAL - PLACES 32.- 37.

Another year, another Home Jury. And mind you, never ever before the results have been so surprising and I must honestly admit so not in line with my own likes and dislikes but what can I do, they have spoken. We voted with scores from 1 to 10 and this year also the scores are all time low and without a runaway winner. Ties were broken by highest individual scores. This year our unprofessional, mildly interested, regular Eurovision viewers included people in their teens, 20's, 30's, 40's and 50's. Both sexes, various locations in Finland added with our exotic Peruvian member to spice things up a little. I will count down the whole ranking in coming days from bottom to the top so please do follow up and comment if you like. Let's go! 32. SPAIN  3,63 33. ARMENIA  3,25 34. ICELAND  3,25 35. GEORGIA  3,25 36. GREECE  3,00 37. MOLDOVA  3,00

EUROVISION 2024: DAY 5 - SEMI-FINAL ONE SECOND REHEARSALS

Today all entries in the semi-final one had their second rehearsals of 20 minutes. Not much to add but Luxemburg had changed the outfit. Or rather added some scarfs on top of it.... Still not good I must admit.  CYPRUS SERBIA LITHUANIA IRELAND UKRAINE  POLAND CROATIA ICELAND SLOVENIA FINLAND MOLDOVA AZERBAIJAN AUSTRALIA PORTUGAL LUXEMBURG Photos as always from eurovision.tv

GREECE: HELENA PAPARIZOU HITS AGAIN WITH HAIDE

Eurovision song contest 2005 winner Helena Paparizou has been enjoying Top-5 hits every year since 2003 with the exception of 2010 and 2014, this latest one being already her 27th! And Haide is charting also in Bulgaria and Finland, of all places. The catchiness of her hits has changed less over the years than her face....  Here's the English version , below the Greek version.

ESC 2016 ARMENIA: IT'S IVETA MUKUCHYAN!

Armenian tv has revealed tonight the name of their artist for the 2016 Eurovision song contest in Stockholm. It's 29-year-old Iveta Mukuchyan. Born in Yerevan she moved with her family to Germany when she was 6. At 23 she moved back to Armenia and continued her music studies. She has taken part in the Armenian Pop Idol finishing 5th in 2010 and she also did The Voice of Germany . In 2012 she was voted the Sexiest Armenian.  Armenian tv has made a call for songwriters all over the world to submit a song for her by November 13, 2015.  Let's see which direction the final choice will go, Freak or her latest release that you can hear below.... Whatever it is it will be an improvement from last year's fiasco.....

EUROVISION 2024: DAY 6 - FIRST REHEARSALS OF THE BIG 5 + SWEDEN

The Big 5 are in town and on stage for the first time today for their first 30 minute technical rehearsal. And there are boxes. United Kingdom has a dirty old boxing training hall's shower room where everything seems to go very dizzy indeed a la George Michael's toilet scenes. Germany has a house on fire instead and the box theme continues with Sweden.... France goes all intimate instead and does already the familiar step back from microphone a Capella thing that will go wild in the arena. Can't wait!
