The 63rd Sanremo festival kicks off tonight. Italians might be a little cofused with Sanremo, the coming political elections and the surprising stepping down of the Pope all happening at the same time keeping the media in full frenzy. Eurovision fans however will keep a keen eye on the show's opener Marco Mengoni, one of the three most propable Italian entrants for the Eurovision 2013 in Malmö 2013. Meanwhile RAI calls Eurovision "the music event of the year" in their promo! The eight artosts in the Giovani/Newcomers category will be presented but the competition is only for the Big ones. Seven first will present their songs and you can see the running order below.
A mixed televote-press center vote will pick one of the two songs for each artist to bring to the final.
Marco Mengoni: “Bellissimo” and “L’essenziale”
Raphael Gualazzi: “Sai (ci basta un sogno)” and “Senza ritegno”
Daniele Silvestri: “A bocca chiusa” and “Il bisogno di te (Ricatto d’onor)”
Simona Molinari & Peter Cincotti: “La felicità” and “Dr. Jekyll e Mr. Hyde”
Marta sui Tubi: “Vorrei” and “Dispari”
Maria Nazionale: ” Quando non parlo” and “E’ colpa mia”
Chiara Galiazzo: “L’esperienza dell’amore” and “Il futuro che sarà”
As always the stage of Teatro Ariston will be filled with a lot of talk, guests that have nothing to do with music or the songs in competition. Two of them, yet unconfirmed by the organization of course, could be two Italian guys, Stefano and Frederico who will be married in New York on St.Valentine's day simple because in Italy they can't. As a prostest there might be a gay kiss on stage. And yes, in Italy that still has choc value.... Here's their sweet little story.
